Description
A gun I designed for the (fictional) gun company Vil Arms, out of Russia(Founded in 2038).The Legion(TM) Modular Defence Weapon utilizes multiple caseless ammunition types, each of the same measurements. The ammo feeding mechanism is very similar to that used by the H&K g11 rifle([link] bottom image)
The main features of this gun are the multiple barrels(in several calibers) available for the weapon. Changing of a barrel requires no tools or other modifications to the weapon. Simply remove the barrel, remove the magazine and insert a new one of each. Be it 9mm, .50 cal, or .223 remington.
The pistol is completely ambidextrous.
This is a very simple image of the gun with the 9mm submachine gun variant(blue outline) with the universal base(red outline).
The, mostly, balistic polymer construction of the "base" piece allows an almost infinite choice of available colors and designs.

looks a lot like something i modeled a few years back

This is a really great idea(modular design)
and it looks really cool too.
About the caliber change, changing the barrel alone wont be enough, if the gun is chambered for .223(5.56mm) a .50(12.7mm) will never fit lol and judging by the pistol grip the gun is not big enough for .50 rounds, I mean they wont even pass through the grip.
I dig the caseless ammo idea, coz its very likely it will be adopted in the near future, but such a compact design would bring a lot of complications in loading.
Anyway I just love your design and I thought I might give it a go at modelling it in cinema4D(3D software). I dont promise anything though, I am currently going through a lazyness spree(havn't submitted anything in months!) but I'll do my best. so what do you say?

Well, the idea about the calibers is that once in the propellant block the rounds are all the same size so you only need change the barrels.
A friend of mine did point out, though, that Magnum, Nato, and Remington in the name also talk about the casings, so I plan on changing the calibers to something different that JUST reference the bullet size, probably in mm due to the fact that the company is Russian
I would LOVE to see this in 3D. I have a friend who does some 3D and was going to ask him, but I haven't seen him lately

Ok, one 3d Vil Arms - Modular gun comin right up.
If there are any details not seen in this image be sure to point them out.
btw full credit will be given to you wherever I post this image(propably only DA).

Lets see... details...
|Well, the sights are taken directly from an H&K Ump, so that's what to look for for reference.
On the front of the barrel assembly, under where the barrel, about halfway down, is should be a single small hole. This is the built in sensor that allows the gun to be tied into a pair of SmartGlasses for sighting and such.
The top rail is actually reversed from a standard rail with the items being inserted inside instead of around.. If that doesn't make sense I can draw a quick sketch
The stock should have a cheek plate, like here: [link] which I haven't posted yet because I'm not happy with it.
Other than that you are free to add any details you see fit.

Ok thanks for pointing those out.
The 'base' gun is basically finished apart for some minor details. take a look -> [link]
Sights: fixed one is done, smg ones working on them
Hole in front: is it for a camera to see around corners?
Top rail: done
Cheek plate: workin on it
Added details: Selector switch(full/semi)
Any questions/requests just message me under my deviation.

One thing is that the base is actually hollow. I probably didn't make that clear in my description of the gun: [link] So the whole of the barrel is removable.
And maybe make the area where the trigger finger would go a little narrower. maybe a more pronounced cutout. I got complaints from a few people that it was too thick there.
A selector on each side would be nice too... the gun is ambidextrous.
The botton on the side should stick out a little bit. it's the relase catch for the barrels.
sorry. Don't want to be a pain to the person modelling the gun for free.

Well, after figuring out just how the rounds would hafta fit to work with the bolt system standard would only be about 40 rounds, double stacked.
They hafta be at almost a 40 degree angle in relation to the magazine to be able to properly feed into the bolt.
I'm gonna hafta draw up the internal mechanisim...

I love it when people put forth the time and effort into the details of the stuff they create for a fictional universe. after all, the devil is in the detail, as they say

Well, I'm a gun guy... I lvoe guns, I think they're pretty, and I know how they work.
So when I design a gun I HAVE to know that it'd at least work in theory. But everything hasta be in the right place.
Of course, when I design the innardspeople will hafta have a little suspension of disbelief seeing as how the gun is from the future
