Description
Some basic dragon head shapes in 4 different poses: side, zenith, front and 3/4Let's talk about each one of them (megatext is coming ^Β¬^U)
1 "Horse like" type: soft and rounded shapes, good proportions, robust. It is a head that makes it easy to draw expressions, because the mouth is fleshy and with lips. It can remind a bit of dinosaurs (T-rex), so it is one of the most used. Rising conical shape without a beak, where the snout is flat at the tip, slightly elongated and widened as we move towards the head. Trapezoid base with rounded edges.
2 "Bulky" type: heavy, large and robust heads. Powerful jaws. The jaw may be larger than the upper jaw to give a more "brutal" appearance, but it is not required. With this head we look for sharp lines, rectangular bases with aggressive edges. These heads are more reminiscent of gross and giant monsters.
3 Sharp type: elongated heads, with many sharp and pointed angles. They are thin, light, agile and fast looking. They are based on triangular shapes. The beak-shaped snouts make them look like reptilian birds.
As we have already mentioned, the first type is the one that lends itself the most to expressiveness so... how do we make the other two more expressive? Well, we have to play with the elements of the face. Since the lips are hard like peaks or not quite visible, we can use the corners. As for the eyes, the eyebrows will be our allies.
In the next tutorial we will talk about the "accessories" that can be added to the heads: horns, ears, hair, thorns ... everything you can imagine
I hope you like it and find it useful :3
