My headcanon is something like yours xD Princess Twilight has many magical students that are talented. The one who amazes her the most is Sunste Shimmer. A unicorn who was formerly Princess Celestia's student. Twilight made Sunset a unicorn princess, since she did say she wants to stay a unicorn.
