Description
-Secrets of the Holy Grail according to The Da Vinci Code-"Mary Magdalene was of royal descent (through the Jewish House of Benjamin) and was the wife of Jesus, of the House of David. That she was a prostitute was slander invented by the Church to obscure their true relationship. At the time of the Crucifixion, she was pregnant. After the Crucifixion, she fled to Gaul, where she was sheltered by the Jews of Marseille. She gave birth to a daughter, named Sarah. The bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene became the Merovingian dynasty of France."
What better subject for an addition to my Unlikely Icon series! This is the 3rd Unlikely Icon of the Holy Family II (Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Sarah). I used various icons of the original Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and Jesus) as the basis for my icon.
One interesting thing I found in this particular positioning of the Holy Family is that the halos of the adults intersect at each other's center and the mother's halo slightly overlaps the child's halo. The child's dimensions are also exactly half the adults.
I enjoyed working on three people in one icon. The 3/4 view was a bit more tricky but I think it came out well. Comments are welcome!

Yes. Jesus is our brother, not husband. His bride is the church, not an earthly woman. Jesus never got married or had children. Hence, the antichrist comment.

Indeed. The Holy Spirit allows mortal men to speak the word of God without a thought. Hence the title, the word of God.

This was said back then as it is said today by many. However, one must not judge a book by a cover. Take it as far to not judge at all. This was what Paul did as a matter of fact. Paul was a persecuter and killer of Christians. Jesus chose him for this reason to show everyone can change and inherit a place in Paradise.

Ah, but that is where you are wrong once again. Jesus knew about Paul. Paul of Tarsus was famously known for being a very devoted Jew who despised the Christians. His mission was to eliminate them all and go after the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth in the end. After meeting Jesus, Paul gets a change of heart. Jesus knows very well who Paul was. Everyone at the time knew Paul of Tarsus, the persecutor.

Why would the man who hated Christianity with a passion decide to compose most of the New Testament with his letters? What would he gain? This is the will of God.Β

To seperate them from the true teachings of Jesus. Since Paul cannot crushed them by force, he use a different method to winning their heart by using a twisted and misleading words; NEW TESTAMENT.

EnriqueArreguin777 In reply to SerigalaTunggal [2016-05-18 20:02:45 +0000 UTC]
Wrong. You see, after Judas left, there were only 11 left. Paul became a disciple after he decided to spread the gospel of Christ. He was considered the 12th one, and this was acknowledged by Rome as well before his execution.Β

SerigalaTunggal In reply to EnriqueArreguin777 [2016-05-20 15:30:34 +0000 UTC]
to become someone's disciple, you have to meet and learned from him/her. Paul never did that yet you call him one of the disciples? LOL! enough with your theory. I rather read a book written by Judas (if there's any) than Paul's New Fraudstament.

EnriqueArreguin777 In reply to SerigalaTunggal [2016-05-20 18:48:40 +0000 UTC]
Indeed, which is why Paul is a well known disciple by all Christians. History cannot be theoretical. The closest you'll find to that is the gospel of Judas, if you're interested in watered down stories. Unless you prefer to take the true gospel and accept truth as it is written.Β

Have you read 'The One' or something similiar with that title by Kathleen McGowen, it is a really good book and I really recommend it. Beautiful picture, putting Mary Magdalene in a red dress is symbolic and your depiction of Jesus is very good.

Very lovely piece. I have also viewed your other works in that style and I found them both beautiful! If you are interested in Gnosis, or gnosticism, I recommend that you take a look at this website: [link] which has a different approach and explanation on Gnosticism than most pseudo-gnostics and other organizations which call themselves Gnostics.
Are you planning on doing more works with this style of imagery?

The most subtle of your Icon set, this one REALLY requires a good look in order to notice the peculiarity. Again, the subtle touch of Jesus' barely-noticeable wounds is excellent.
