Description
=UPDATE July 7th, 2015: Massive changes, better proportioned and modifications to the data, now it includes data pre and post 1945=One of my favorite cultures in the world in one of my favorite series.
Definetely it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it'd be, the information about the divisions for the Ottoman Empire are pretty well detailed and that made adapting it for Strike Witches very easy.
The turks are a really awesome culture and it makes me happy the Ostoman Empire still exist in 1945.
Enjoy!

Yeah....what?
We all know that?
The Ostoman Empire is obviously based on the Ottoman Empire.

That's very controversial.Β
But simply no; they never independently fight for their 'true' independence. They always lead/fooled/played by Δ°mams & Sheiks; who use and sell them for their own good. Oh; and then they just okay with being ruled by the British very long. Because of their precious sheiks were fine.Β

Well; Saudu Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain and the Palestine (Sheik and Hamas ruled junta ''proto-state'') kinda proves that; unfortunatelyΒ Β
(Also proves any 'working' secular arab/middle eastern state will eventually put down by 'greater powers' & junta administrations will put in... )

As of 1945, yeah because the country is under a dictatorship, it changes by the end of 1945.

It is not mentioned in the timeline, however seeing as the Roman Empire lasted quite a lot of time (Until 843 AC), the division of the empire is mentioned AND Justinianus is mentioned as ascending the throne of the eastern roman empire, this tells me that the Byzantine Empire DID in fact exists in the SW universe, althought just like in real life, it was nevere refered to as such and they kept calling it "Eastern Roman Empire" And due to the lack of Islamic Expansions, they didn't lose the territories they had (Except for Egypt, Grecia, Macedonia and Cyrenaica).
The Seljuk Empire is also brought up in the timeline (Forming its empire in 1038) so Turks that battled with the Byzantine Empire existed, probably they were eventually defeated by not just the byzantines but the Persians who took back their land from them (As Islam doesn't seem to exists in this world, my guess is that after Persia recovered from the Seljuks, they simply resumed their Sasanid Dynasty until modern times), this of course is essential because is the catalist for the arrival of the Ottoman Turks who came to assist the Seljuk Turks, but later stablished in Anatolia.
The timeline does not bring up the siege of Constantinople, but seeing as in the map is called "Ostoman" we can assume it happened. and once the city was taken, they just simply inherited all the territories from the Byzantines (Which as we stablished before, they were A LOT) with that and the lack of Islam, I imagine the Ottomans didn't have big desire for expansion so I don't think they battled with European nations all that much as they did in real life and kept it to themselves (Althought the War of Crimea is brought up in the Timeline).
I imagine they would also have more respect for the former roman culture they conquered and would have adopted elements from it (Which is why the flag has an orange pattern that was used on Byzantine flags).
That's how it was called during Ottoman Rule, it was a Vilayet (Kinda like a division they had) alongside other islands in that area, but since those Islands don't exists in the SW world (Probably are underwater) only Cyprus remains to be called Archipelago: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vilayet_β¦

One other note worth bringing up is that while the War of Crimea did occur: instead of it being a battle of humanity amongst itself it was instead a war that was waged against a large scale appearance of Neruoi.
