Description
3MB to load... Be Patient!Since some of you already know, two weeks ago my 2D Animation course has started. I'll study it for three years. Last week we received a light table, and we have created a lot of small animations practicing the art of animation. I'll write more at the journal soon if you like.
Yesterday I could not wait to play around with it some more. It's my very first hand drawn animation of a character (One second loop, 21 Frames). It looks a bit stiff and pretty rough, but it was a lot of fun to do! It was really long ago when I was that motivated to create something. I may try to ink it digitally... Reference was a walking cycle video from youtube.
EDIT: Preloader Added
Enjoy

A few odd questions. One, because of how the walk does seem a bit stiff, was this done mostly pose to pose or was part of it straight ahead? Second, the far arm seems to pop a little when it gets back into frame, and it looks, at parts, to be a bit jumpy. How many frames is this loop and is it playing back on ones twos or threes? Three, as a minor suggestion, should you ever do another walk, that might help. Don't get into a habbit of doing all your walks stationary. If you do, your characters will all seem to walk around like they did in the old scooby doo cartoons and just slide across the page.
Main reason I'm curious is because I litterally just finished a 2D animation course a week ago. It is a good solid walk you do have, so please don't take anything above the wrong way. After my final for the class, I've been a bit critical of any animation work I've been doing when ever anything seemed off, rough, or popped.

Ah I appreciate constructive criticism, so don't worry. As I've weitten in my comment it is a bit stiff mostly because there is no up and down of the head. There are 21 frames for one second. At uni I'm Practising non stationary walking at the moment.
I'll try to improve this animation while inking and coloring.
thx!

Before I forget, there is one hell of a resource book I picked up for my class that might be of major help to you. It's called the Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams and, damn, does he have good reference, explanations, and more. Just following some of the simpler stuff in it as regular drawing practice improves things manyfold.

You speak from experience?
Well, I'm not only animating. I'll also have some classes in character design, sound design, storyboard creation and more. Just everything you need to know to create an animated film.

It was still rough at the first time, but I'm sure u would master it and get it smoother
Oh wow,21 frames for a loop? O_o
well..I know it was common for an animation, but still,I just begin the animation lesson,so I envy u a lot lol XD
keep trying, and I'm looking forward for ur next animation!
