Description
"Tell me, how does it feel becoming a god?"
What can I say except... I sometimes can be a bit predictable. I'm on a bit of a Teenage Robot kick clearly and as such I did another one of these pieces of Jenny utilizing something from Dragon Ball. That being said, the nature of this creation is different from the others because... well this is an original drawing and not an edit and I don't mean that even in the sense that this was done in paint.net only, I mean this was actually hand-drawn on a piece of paper and then traced over by me in paint.net.
The idea behind this particular drawing was simple enough. I wanted to do Jenny as a Super Saiyan God or in this case I guess, a "Super Robot God" but the thing is? I didn't want this necessarily to just be a simple case of taking Jenny, turning her hair red and leaving it at that. No I wanted to do something special with it because as one might notice if they take a closer look at the original god form, there's more going on with Goku and Vegeta beyond the haircolor change and as such, I really got to thinking about this and settled on this look. Now in particular, there were four areas which provided the most challenge for me. The first was the eyes because see, one of the defining traits of this form is that it gives you big red irises. Jenny... doesn't really have those. She has big I believe what are called pie-style eyes. Now there's nothing too bad there on paper... except that style is also what results in the big highlight going across the eyes which means if one were to just omit it? Something would look off. Also I should note that Super Saiyan God kind of shrinks the size of Goku's eyes a little which makes doing this even more tricky. Eventually I settled on this look which I feel looks distinctly Jenny while still clearly being a Dragon Ball-based form. The next bit of difficulty was just the hair. See for this I just wasn't quite feeling the idea of just taking Jenny's bangs, coloring them red and leaving it like that so I decided upon the idea of changing the style up to take inspiration from Goku's. This... made things tricky because one little screw-up would result in the whole face being ruined and if taken too far in the direction of looking like Goku's bangs and not a combination? Well, it would also just look silly so I really kept working at that and until I got it to a place I was happy with. Next there was the color which was a big, BIG source of difficulty. See the most expected options were as such, you either can again, just make Jenny's hair red or you can make her all red and by red, I mean the pinkish red of the hair. I toyed around with the idea of using maybe a different, somewhat more saturated shade of blue but... that just threw everything off and as for making her all pinkish red? It just was too expected so I decided to get creative. I made most of the body the same red as the eyes and made her belly-bolt and hair the pinkish red people would expect from this form. Now for the colors, I primarily took the haircolor from a screencap of Vegeta from Super: Broly and I took the eyes from a shot of Goku in Battle of Gods. In fact that's where the white comes from since I decided to specifically pick from an area that had an ever so slight pink tint to it. Subtle details like this and the yellow glow for the highlight which was taken from an image of Goku in Super: Broly really help in my opinion to really make this stand out.
As for the very last difficulty? It was just doing the hands... I hate doing Jenny's hands due to the fact that because the style takes such a simple, very shape-based approach? It makes any little mistake far more costly. Couple that with the fact that I haven't properly drawn Jenny by hand in years and what you have is a recipe for an experience where even after I got it to a spot I was at least happy with, I'm still not sure I even truly like it but eventually, there was a point where I realized I either had to go with something or this was just going to sit on my computer unfinished. As for other difficulties I experienced? They were nothing too terribly major. Positioning the pigtails was a little tricky and I was constantly adjusting things as I was digitizing the drawing but all in all, it was fairly smooth. With that being said, I hope you all enjoy the drawing and have a good day.
