Description
Since I like drawing these, and because they're surprisingly popular.#1: I think I captured something pretty Halo CE-esque here, which was the intent.
#2 is a variant on the Ascetic helmet design. I do like those prongs.
#3: I really like how the pose and cloak turned out on this one.
#4 is that familiar, classic H2 Elite. Still some of the coolest designs in Halo.
#5: more fun with prongs and sharp shapes.
#6 is another personal favorite.
#9 and #10 are some attempts to do something a bit different with the Elite helmet designs, while #11 is just more of the same old pointy-headedness (though it doesn't really get old, does it?)
#12 was an attempt to answer the question of "where do Skirmishers put their plumages in fully-enclosed helmets?"
#13: I was revisiting Halo CE some time back and I hadn't even remembered how cool some of the designs were. There's like three different color variations of Jackals that don't pop up in later games, and they have a bunch of nice little details like these tattoos that go up their arms and necks. There's a lot you could do with Jackals and customization seeing as how many of them are mercenaries or other such motley sorts, and seem to love shiny things.
#14: Could Kig-Yar quills and/or feathers have different textures, with some being 'softer'? I'd imagine the species would have tons of different cross-breeds and subvariants in addition to the base types (Jackals and Skirmishers) so this particular Jackal might be one of those.
#16 is a custom full-face helmet on an H2-H3 style Jackal.
#17-18: Grunts never get old, and neither do those peaked helmets from HCE.
#19-23 are just designs for Sangheili casual wear. I tried to merge more 'futuristic' elements with classical, medieval-esque themes to create something that befits the way they're portrayed. Maybe they might mix traditional materials like leather and fur with more advanced materials science and manufacturing technology.
#24 is another custom Kig-Yar helmet design while #25 is a Combat Evolved-style Jackal in casual wear - perhaps a merchant or something of the sort.
#26: A concept for a Shipmistress. Contact Harvest says female Kig-Yar have scales instead of quills, so for some reason I came up with the idea that they might be more inclined to wear hats to look impressive. This one ended up looking a bit silly, though.
#27 is where I go all-out with the pirate theme and the unnecessary but flashy bling Jackals probably love. I like the idea that like on many birds, one's plumage is considered a sign of 'manliness' on Kig-Yar, and some might attempt to augment theirs with either feather transplants or just wear feathers (in pirates' and criminals' case, perhaps those from fallen enemies) as a fashion accessory. The idea for associating the vaguely Mesoamerican ornamentation theme with Kig-Yar came from some of Shi Kai Wang's early concepts for Halo CE, where their shield gauntlets had this kind of rounded, blocky shape to them. I've really taken a liking to that idea so I've incorporated it in a lot of my Kig-Yar casual concepts.

Fab! Are you gonna sketch the other species? Like Civilian Lekgolo forms, or some civilian Jiralhanae?

That's a really good idea (especially civilian Jiralhanae), so I might actually do that at some point!

Still love these Kig designs; I've been wanting to see Kigs in something other than their old Covenant armor in some official capacity forever and these really scratch that itch for me. Not only some heavy different armor but also more casual/trade outfits. Fantastic stuff <3

I thought the tattoos on the Kigyar were supposed to be scales because of the original Xbox's graphics. But the idea is interesting and really cool looking like with all of them. Good job

Even with the graphical limitations, I definitely don't think the patterns look natural or scale-like. But thanks.

Ah okay now I see. I wonder if it was religious or their fashion

It could be any number of things. It's also possible they're cultural, perhaps emblematic of some particular region, colony or organization. Maybe the Kig-Yar in the Fleet of Particular Justice came from a certain mercenary group or guild who used tattoos like that. Given how they depict these interconnecting shapes, I'd also be inclined to think they might be something that are built up over time - perhaps through kills, service tours, cycles of service, or anything really.
