The Bride

When my cousin was a teenager, she used to tell her parents that she would see a woman in a bridal gown with a long trail walk past her door at night. My aunt and uncle really didn't believe her but to make her feel better they suggested that they put something on the floor in the hallway that would be knocked over by a long bridal gown. So they ended up putting dominos on their edges along the hallway. They did this for a month, and when my cousin came out of her room every morning to see the dominos still standing she eventually gave up on her story and the whole event kind of died down.

My cousin is much older now, and a few years ago my aunt and uncle confided to her that on several mornings during that period they awoke to find the dominos scattered about. Not wanting to alarm their daughter, they would re-configure the dominos on those occasions before my cousin woke up. My cousin had her own confession; the bride sightings had continued for years, but she was afraid to tell anyone.

When I was a lad, I once awoke to see Henry Winkler standing at the foot of my bed holding a can of custard. My Dad beat the shit out of him and called the cops. For years afterwards I would dive behind the sofa whenever "Happy Days" came on TV.

When I was young, I never had any interaction with any cast member from happy days. However, for years I would dive behind the sofa whenever "Chachi" appeared on the show.

So let's hear some creepy tales!

Because her parents went to such great lengths to dispell the possibility of a ghost in the house, she just went with it. But she knew better!!

Ok, here goes:

This one isn't my own, but it's far creepier (maybe make a good manip?)

A friend of mine told me that her uncle moved to new york to go to some art school. He had very little money, and so he had to find a really cheap apartment. He had horrible eyesight and couldn't see anything but fuzz without his glasses (that's important for the creepiness). So he found this one incredibly cheap apartment, and some of his neighbors told him that no one had ever been able to stay in that apartment more than a week or two. So he moves in and everything, and the first night when he goes to sleep, he wakes up in the middle of the night to get something to drink (of course, he doesn't put his glasses on so he can't really see anything but fuzz, but that's enough to just go get a drink) he goes down the hallway and he notices a weird fogginess kind of in the air, but figures it's just his bad eyes and proceeds. He lives there for months totally undistrubed, but always notices the fog at night. Eventually he decides to move to a nicer place, and as he's moving out, a different neighbor says 'so the old man finally got to you eh?' and he looks at them, puzzled. The neighbor then explains that a few years ago a man had hung himself in the apartment and that every person that's lived there since had seen a ghostly image of a man dead and hanging from the ceiling right outside the hallway to kitchen.

I have no idea if that's true or not, the person claimed it really was they're uncle, but who knows.

and now for some personal ones:

there've been more than one. My sister and I have heard strange moning noises, in an old apartment. And in this one one time my mother and I were having a fight and I had gone to the bathroom in the middle of it, while I was in the bathroom and she was in the kitchen getting a drink and I heard her say something to me, so I yelled that I was in the bathroom and then she's quiet for a second and says 'no you're not. stop that.'

the way our apartment is set up, the entrance to the kitchen is just a doorway in the hallway, and the refridgerator is at a 90 degree angle to the doorway, so if the refriderator or freezer door is open then it blocks the entrace to the kitchen. And, so if the freezer door is open then you can't see someone's [who is short, like me] head, only their legs and feet.

Well, she said that right before she'd said something to me, she'd seen my legs and feet standing there. I don't know if she blinked and it was gone or just casually turned around and then it was gone or what, but she swears she did see my legs and feet and it was right before she had said something to me, and I HAD been in the bathroom longer than just a second when I heard her voice.

And other than that, I just know that my mom has said she's heard or seen weird things here, but I just can't bear to hear about it. Last night (we have a one bedroom apartment and we turned the dining room which is adjoined to the living room into a bedroom by hanging a curtain across it to separate it) when I was turning lights out and stuff helping her to bed, she asked me to leave the living room lights on (and I had told her the story about the bride, hehe and we were teasing each other about it all night) and so I was like 'ohhh are you afraid of the bride eh?' and she said 'noo... I saw something last night but I don't think you want to hear about it' and she was right, I didn't... but it still freaked me out. every time I went out there last night I had to look into the living room first.

Part of me is REALLY curious what she saw, but I think it's best that I not know... lol.

a few weeks ago, I had spent the night out somewhere, and then came home and all the lights were on, including those in my room... and at first she wouldn't tell me why, and then she said that she'd heard someone coughing in the living room but knew there was no one there. EEEEE.

I've seen lots of things...the thing that sticks out in my head the most was the time I was washing my hands in the kitchen sink and I saw an angry looking man man standing directly behind me in the reflection of the window above the counter...that was pretty scary.

Man, that is creepy!

My wife heard a man's voice in our baby's room over the baby monitor last night... she bolted into the room to find out that a Barney doll had mysteriously started talking...

Yeah, that's kind of like the problem I'm having right now. I have a set of string lights strung up in my bedroom, just to have enough light to walk through my room at night. They have no on/off switch but don't use a lot of electricity so I leave them plugged in all the time. All this week, though, they just suddenly switch off around at night, plugged in or not, but light up again when I wake up in the morning...
