Did a bit of painting studies.Honestly, I dislike...., mainstream render....
It bores me. But I'm glad I managed to pull it off.

I really like this. You have a very good sense of color, everything here just fits together very well. Your rendering skills are good, could use some work in my opinion, but I can see the sketchiness of it, so I can see why I may think that. Also, it is a study. The colors you’ve used for the shirt/ dress fits extremely well with the skin tone, the blue along with the orange/ peach color skin complements each other well. I love how you decided to not just have the body cut off with a strict line, and have it floating there, instead you made it fade into an array of grayish-blues to bright neon-esk blue. That does make it more interesting to look at, and that is one of the main features that caught my eye. Now for what I think can be improved, this is going to be a bit nitpicky. Even though I do like a good sketchy style, you may want to tighten up some of the blending, take your rendering to the next level. One thing I’m noticing is the lack of extreme darks, except with the eyes. I understand that this is very stylized, but it does seem a bit flat, very middle of the road in shading. I’m not saying this is a bad thing, it does give it its own style, just something to consider. And since this is a digital work, you could copy the file and work on other versions, if you so choose. Other than that, very good work! Very nice portrait.

Thank you for the input I appreciate it a lot. It doesn't sound too nitpicky, because I do agree that if I wish to improve and get better, I would definitely have to take into account whatever minor details you have pointed out.
Thanks again~

For ProjectComment I will give some pros and cons.
I love all of the contour and detailed linework in this painting. The way the subtle light lines work their way down in her hair with certain grace, and almost a sort of weaving pattern. That is really special and rather unique. The golden embroidered style work on her blouse is really cool too. So overall, the shape and size and linework of everything is "spot on" and really cool.
For color I think you did a great job at making that milky-gold beautiful type of blond hair. However I think the highlights are a bit confusing. Where exactly is the light? What type of light is it? And how strong is it? I can see that you did answer some of these questions already, but perhaps something is not right... The highlights on her fringe (or bangs) do not look very strong, that makes me think it must be a smaller softer, indoor light. So if that is true you should not see more strong highlights as we get further away from the fringe, and therefore the lower half of the portrait should also taper off into shadow just a little. However, if it is strong sunlight, then everything should have much stronger highlights with a touch of yellow hue. Of course, a girl who looks like this would probably never be in a "florescent light" environment I hope not anyway, a girl this cool looking should be in a natural environment, or a castle or something.
The eyebrows... well. I know cartoons often allow eyebrows to go "over the hair" because they need to show expression still... but... you have gone so far into detail, and it looks so realistic, and so it really just looks like floating eyebrows
The eyes are beautiful. I also like the stoic and involved expression on her face.
This is a beautiful digital painting. Don't focus on the cons noted above. Just some nitpicky things which I hope helps you to improve, and I can even be wrong on some things.

Oh, it's an art term we use in college to define painting correct lighting on an object.
Sometimes professionally used for those very difficult artworks. Basically a high-end painting style in layman terms.
