Description
I got some suggestions for who to do next in my library of D.C chibis and one of them was the Global Guardians. As soon as I read it I knew I HAD to do it.I forgot to check if there was a specific line-up that was intended in the suggestion so I just went with the last known line-up. I think a few of these characters are supposed to be 'dead'.
Once again...D.C screws the non-Americans.

Whooooooooooooah, these are some seriously awesome designs! I'll have to check out these Global guardians; I'm really liking the Manticore guy, hahaha. <3 The tasmanian devil cracks me up, though... xD
THEY NEED A WOMBAT HERO, G. SUBMIT HIM TO DC ALREADY.

To complete your description ... Gloss, Freedom Beast, Sandstorm and Taz were killed by Prometheus during Cry for Justice, but Taz later was revived in Congorilla/Starman one shot... Jet it's unknow where is she now but she was dead for a long time before she make her comeback as a Global Guardian...
So we have only 4 Global Guardians now ... Crimson Fox, Jet, Taz and Manticore but this last one possibly can turn into a villian who knows all his predecesors were villians part of the Jihad or Suicide Squad...
There are more Guardians over there like The Olympian who a couple of years (wonder girl issues) move to USA, and Godiva waiting to her hair to grow back after the thieves of organs remove it from her head (but she is still alive and recovering jejeje)...

I, uh . . . wish I knew more about any of these guys. None of them is familiar to me. ;;;;;; /gigantic loser But all their character designs are so unique and aesome! They all look so cool. All of your art always makes me want to read more DC~ (which I always want to do anyway, but you make me want to do it even more LOLOL )
Sorry DC hates on you. If it makes you feel any better, I'm about 3 hours from the nearest comic book store?

MORE CHIBIS you know, if you ever organized all your DC chibis into a bigass poster, i would buy the shit out of it. i'm not even kidding. i have a paypal account now
..."freedom beast"? really?

The-G In reply to Dakt37 [2011-01-18 00:40:09 +0000 UTC]
Well...the thought has crossed my mind but I've not made any plans. Before that I think I would organise them into unified groups. Like a Superman family compilation...a JLA compilation...a JSA compilation etc etc.
I think they'd need to be in colour though. A poster of black and white? Nahhhhhhhh...not so good.
The previous person called themself something else. Something Beast.
Then when this guy took over he changed the name to Freedom Beast.

It's that big hood thing isn't it? That thing always makes people go It's certainly different.
Looks better in colour.
Jet reminds me of Storm a bit. Mohawk punk Storm.

I recognize Jet. But that's it of this set.
I feel so. . .unknowing.
Freedom Beast seems a little contradictory, wearing a loin cloth and a MASK. And Crimson Fox comes off as a cobra to me.
WTF, D.C.
I think Manticore looks the coolest.

It's okay. These guys haven't really gotten much page time over the years. Well...compared to others. Crimson Fox has been in some Justice League stuff. But they haven't cropped up much.
Yeah Freedom Beast's ensemble is a little strange. But he's the second Freedom Beast so maybe it's his interpretation of the outfit. Crimson Fox used to look a bit more foxy but this is Crimson Fox 3 and she's redone the look a little bit. The outfit's always had the big hood thing though.
Manticore? Really? Is that because he looks the most fantasy creature like?

It occurs to me now that I've never had a D.C. comic before. I got my hands on some Marvel ones and bought a Top Cow one before (titled Alley Cat -- predictable me
) but never a D.C. No wonder I like Marvel so much better.
Or maybe the artist made the outfit as a joke when offering up possible sketches and WTF it got picked. Just sayin'.
I dunno. I just. . .really like his design. Might be the hair iunno. Gloss comes in a close second.

Ah. So you've been influenced by your environment. That's understandable. I think I know that Alley Cat one.
Wasn't it that series that was based on a Playboy model or something?
I think I know a guy who bought some. Expecting it to be full on nudity on every page.
You defended yourself there...like I was going to come back with "How dare you question his outfit! " But you're probably right. I don't know.
The hair ay? So you like a bit of long hair do you?

DragonsLover1 In reply to The-G [2011-01-17 01:25:47 +0000 UTC]
I think I ended up getting issue #4 or something and then I go looking online and the series only lasted like ten issues total.
I'm sure it's happened before. Like how the "serving size" for Fig Newtons is two frickin' cookies.
Someone put it up as a joke and it made it to print.
Maybe. Are you a hairy guy?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The-G In reply to DragonsLover1 [2011-01-18 00:04:09 +0000 UTC]
I think that's generally what happens with Top Cow comics. They don't seem to be able to do a series that goes for long. I think the only one they've done is Witchblade. I think that's still going. Everything else seems to get cancelled or they just can't be bothered doing it anymore. What's a Fig Newton? It's obviously a cookie...but I only know that because you implied it was.
On my head? No. I'm not a hairy guy.

In the back there was some kinda advertisement for a huge team-up. Lara Croft, Witchblade and some chick I don't know named Aspen was in it. The tagline, as I recall, was, "The land is dead, but the seas are alive and deadly."
Really good art for the advertisement at least.
Why am I ALWAYS googling things for you? I should stop that sometime. Maybe.
Pshah. If I know anything about Australians it's that they all fight crocodiles, box with kangaroos, swear, fart, drink beer, and all the men are gorillas.
Fact.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The-G In reply to DragonsLover1 [2011-01-20 21:12:51 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I think they did a few of those team-ups. Top Cow is basically about half-naked women. That Aspen chick is from a comic called Fathom.
She's like Aquaman I think. She swims around and has all these water based adventures. But they don't really do stuff like that anymore. I don't think they even make Tomb Raider comics anymore. I think people stopped caring about Lara. But speaking of that...I saw the cover to a game magazine that had a picture of the new Lara on it and she looked like an actual person.
It's about time I say.
Ohhhhhhhhh. I've seen things like that. But they were called something else. They're nice. We don't ALL fight crocodiles. But I will admit that there IS a unusually large proportion of the population that does.
Everything else is pretty spot on.
Well...maybe not the boxing kangaroos thing. They can be hard to find even if you DO want to punch one.

DragonsLover1 In reply to The-G [2011-01-21 19:48:16 +0000 UTC]
I think I know that one. It's Lara's first adventure when she's like 19, trying to make a name for herself. Cause she's one of those types who doesn't want to inherit her name; she wants to earn it. But she ends up getting crash-landed in a jungle somewhere and has to pull some Survivorman stunt to get out alive.
I saw one concept art pic in which she has a bow!
That's so AWESOME!!
So you DO swear, fart, and drink beer, at least. Plus all the men are hairy. Good, good. My compilation is nearly complete.

The-G In reply to DragonsLover1 [2011-01-22 14:22:23 +0000 UTC]
Hmmmm...that could be interesting. Makes a bit of a change from going into some huge cave and fighting monsters. Using a bow is pretty cool too. I've always thought she should have more variety in her weapons...and I guess someone finally listened to me.
Or read my mind at least.
Yes all those things happen. In general. Personally I'm not a beer drinker. I've had many beers in my time but I don't drink it anymore.

DragonsLover1 In reply to The-G [2011-01-22 22:15:46 +0000 UTC]
That's not quite how her other games went either. Oh yes, there were caves, but she also did a lot of adventures in civilized lands or out in open areas. She's gone through jungles, deserts (arctic and non), third-world countries, Tokyo skyscrapers, abandoned factories, and her own home in England a hell of a lot. So it's actually really varied.
Hmm. Well, is Nightbird a beer drinker? For. . .hypothetical reasons?

The-G In reply to DragonsLover1 [2011-01-26 05:32:42 +0000 UTC]
Well I wouldn't know. I haven't really played them. I don't get the appeal personally. The only games I've played through to the finish are Anniversary and Legend. They were pretty much all caves.
Oh wait...I seem to remember watching someone play some game where she was climbing all over buildings at the start.
The guy playing it said it was the shittest game he'd ever played.
But yeah...I've not really seen the big deal about Lara Croft. She's a snob with unrealistic proportions.
Oh yeah. He likes a drink. It's part of the disguise you see. Being a hard drinkin' playboy. He just forgets to pretend to drink...or to not have more than 10.

DragonsLover1 In reply to The-G [2011-01-28 10:52:28 +0000 UTC]
Having unrealistic proportions is what made her such a hit. The original design for the "hero" of Tomb Raider was this Indiana Jones type. They scrapped him for the British acrobatic genius Lara Croft.
And it was such a huge hit they just kept making games.
She's gotten a lot more realistic since then, though; her breasts are still generous, but in a more D-cup sort of way.
And I love her character so shut up.
Ah, right. The disguise. I keep forgetting that he has one. It's just so believable, the way he acts! I can't get my mind around it!

The-G In reply to DragonsLover1 [2011-01-29 21:40:44 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I get that she got a lot of hormones racing...but if you look at the first few games they made she looks terrible. I don't see what's so arousing about it. It's blocky polygons and really weird proportions.
I don't just mean her boobs...I mean the whole figure. I didn't know they'd originally meant for it to be a guy.
I can see why they'd change it. If they went with that then everyone would've just gone "BAH! You're ripping off Indiana Jones!"
I assumed you did. But I still felt the need to share my disinterest in her.
Not many people CAN get their head around the way Nightbird operates. Just when people think they've figured out the answer...Nightbird changes the question.

"People went mad for my polygons." [link]
I remember in Tomb Raider 2, there was this thing you could do by falling to your death off London rooftops, then going to Lara's mansion. She ended up with this bloated second head that looked like a tumor. I still don't know if it was an accident or an easter egg.
Oh he's a slick one alright.
