Description

"Wow, so you really are an alchemist!" giggled Vivian as she stumbled her way into Tony's study. She'd insisted she could hold her liquor back at the club, but obviously not as well as she thought, considering how tipsy she'd become. He didn't mind, of course. She looked utterly fantastic in the too-tight black latex miniskirt and boots she'd worn to the show, and seeing how she'd latched onto him from the moment her equally gorgeous friend Melissa introduced her, she'd obviously intended to go home with somebody tonight. Tony couldn't tell yet if she really liked him or was just so desperate she'd do anything, but he figured he'd find out soon enough.

She seemed to recover a bit from her drunkenness as she meandered around his makeshift lab, studying all the bottles and jars with their weird-looking ingredients. Most people knew a little bit about alchemy, but not as much as they should. He decided to test the waters a bit and see how much Vivian paid attention during school.

"Yep, alchemy's my gig," he told her. "Mostly the usual cures for headaches and whatnot, but I do delve into the occasional stronger magic sometimes. Not for sale, of course--I couldn't afford the licensing fees--but sort of like a hobby, or for...special occasions."

"Ooh, is this special?" she cooed, sliding up and running a hand across his hairless chest as she gave him a soft sideways kiss. "I've always wanted to try some real magic!"

"Well, tonight can be as special as you want it to be, my dear," he told her with a smile, withdrawing a key from his pocket and moving over to a locked cabinet along the wall, next to a shelf full of ingredients. "You see, alchemy isn't your typical magic, where a wizard throws spells around and does whatever he wants. That's why they're so rare and carefully regulated in today's society--they can be dangerous. Not alchemy, though. You see, a potion is rather like a spell that's already been cast. When you drink it, all you're really doing is casting that spell on yourself. Nobody can force you to do this, either--you drink it of your own free will, otherwise it doesn't work. That's why everyone considers alchemy the safest of the magical sciences."

"Oh, sure, I know all that," she insisted, giving a slight hiccup and grinning at the silly noise. "Come on, let me see the potions!"

"Sure thing," he replied, opening up the cabinet. Her lovely blue eyes roamed back and forth across the racks of vials bearing fanciful labels and brief, somewhat vague descriptions. "Potion of Stamina," read one. "Drink this and go all night long." She grinned at the thought, and read the next. "Potion of Protection. Drink this and stay totally safe." Another: "Potion of Eagerness. Drink this and get ready to party!" "Potion of Courage. Drink this and nothing bothers you!" "Potion of Toughness. Drink this and whatever it is, you can take it!"

Vivian chuckled as she read each one, because they obviously referred to just one thing--the thing she'd come here for. "Which one is for me?" she asked as she started on the second row.

"Well, they're really expensive," he said with a shrug, "but you seem pretty special, Vivian, so you can have one for free. Just choose whichever one you like--no conditions. My gift to you."

"Ooh, just one? It's gonna be hard to pick!" She narrowed down her choices to just a couple, and then caught sight of one off along the edge she hadn't noticed before. "Potion of Perspective. Drink this and see things from a new point of view."

She picked it up and looked at him curiously. "Oh, that one's a bit different," he noted, frowning slightly. "Are you sure you want a change in perspective tonight?"

Vivian grinned at him. "I really like you, Tony," she explained, "but I'm sorta wasted right now, so how do I know you're not just trying to take advantage of me, hmm? How can I be sure you're going to treat me right? I'm the sort of girl who likes to see things from all angles, before I sample the merchandise, y'know."

He laughed as she put her hands on her hips, trying to look determined while just sort of weaving from side to side as she tried to balance in her high heels. "Oh, I love your honesty!" Tony replied with a laugh. "Okay, then, if you think you can handle a different way of looking at things, go right ahead."

"Fine!" she giggled, taking off the lid and downing a quick gulp of the potion. By the time she put the lid back on and handed the vial back to him, she'd started to feel dizzy. Her head spun and she stumbled, trying to focus as everything swam and blurred around her. For a few seconds she felt a sensation like falling, finally toppling over to land on something soft and warm. Then the falling feeling changed to one of swift rising, as though being lifted upward. Vivian got to her hands and knees, blinking quickly as her eyesight adjusted.

Then she looked up and saw Tony's enormous face hovering over her, grinning, and she knew exactly what had happened. She felt a surge of panic and fear, but also, just the faintest trace of excitement rushing through her tiny body, even as she stared in awe at the immense palm in which she now found herself.

"All right, then," said the giant, his huge fingers reaching out to pluck her squirming figure out of his hand, "now let's see how you like things from your new point of view..."
