Preparing for Underwater Work

Alright then it's my 493rd color commission and it seems to be a LAMA picture, I've always enjoy coloring these...even though that I've been coloring so many of them all at once that it's kind of driving me nuts. But hey if you read my review of Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity where I 100% that game then I can deal with repetitive stuff no problem. And speaking of that game, this kind of fits in a way as the divers this time are Link and Zelda in their Breath of the Wild incarnations...wait. Let me check if anything of Breath of the Wild happens today. *Sees that Breath of the Wild Sequel was mentioned in a Nintendo Direct but info would be revealed at a later date* Okay that's good. I don't know why but whenever I post a Zelda picture, something usually comes out around this time that's Zelda related whether it's Breath of the Wild or Smash Bros. But nothing happened today so that's a relief. Who knows, maybe something special did happened today several years ago that's Zelda but that's unlikely to happen. Let me just check. *Looks at the list of things that happened today and my eyes point to the top* Oh nothing major happened it seems. All that I see is that today is the 35th Anniversary of Zelda 1...which...means that it's the 35th anniversary of the Zelda Franchise as a whole....*HEADDESK* Why does this keep on happening!? I mean I'm very thankful that I was able to complete and posted this picture on the 35th anniversary of Zelda but the amount of times I had a Zelda colored picture completed during something Zelda related happening it just bonkers...but hey it's time to celebrate with one of my favorite series of all time

So, story on this. It's a good thing I've played though during my Third Playthough of Breath of the Wild a couple of months ago because this actually ties itself with the ending a bit. So after Link and Zelda managed to defeat Calamity Ganon it's up to the two of them to make sure that this peace lasts for as long as they can, and beased on the trailer for the Breath of the Wild Sequel...not much time of peace as passed but I'm getting ahead of myself. ANYWAYS in the ending, Zelda wanted to do a Maintenance on Divine Beast Van Ruta as the two make their way to Zora's domain as Sidon and King Dorephan accept their help as work to tweak the Divine Beast...with a minor set back. Sure Link and Zelda can get on Ruta in the East Reservoir Lake where the Divine Beast was relocated but there's several spots that would be very hard to reach. So the solution to that is to have the Beast be submerged in water to make it so that they can reach much easier. But that leads to another problem, Zora's can breath underwater just fine, but Hylians can't. And to make the repairs, Sidon needs Zelda's help. Welp it's a good thing that the Sheikahs has a Science Division as after the Calamity has ended, they have extra time to work on other inventions that will help improve life all over Hyrule and their first invention out of the gate is a diving gear allowing Hylians to breath underwater that's in the shape of a Bubble Helmet. So that Zelda and Link can dive underwater and repair Ruta. While this is good news, the drawback is due to Zelda's long hair, fitting her head into the helmet would be difficult. They can tie it up so that it fits better but Zelda had a better idea as it's was time for her to change and that means part of her appearance as well and decides to cut her hair...that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it unless proven otherwise

So with her hair cut the two arrive at the Lake as Sidon gets a head start with the Sheikah Tablet as Zelda and Link prepare to dive. Seems that Link was able to get fully equipped pretty quickly, Zelda...not so much. Remember, she's has more smarts then Brawn. Seeing this Link offered his assistance as her Loyal knight to help her with the final touches. Granted you would think that wouldn't this be hard for Link especially with all these heavy Equipment...until you remember all the stuff that he has carried in terms of Weapons, Food, Materials and so on so him getting to move around in the surface is no problem as he helps Zelda a bit. So afterwards they check up on their equipment one more time and dive in to meet with Sidon in an Underwater Adventure with the Divine Beast.

That's the story and now onto the coloring. First is the background which...yeah trying to make the picture look as close to the game is a lot of hard work. Not exactly perfect as while I did get some screenshots of the area in question, some of the details are missing in the line art make it hard to make it as true, but I sure tried with not only the water with some of the effects on top as well as what's under the pier a tiny bit with marble effects everywhere as well as some in the shiny effects from the sun. It's pretty impressive that I was able to pull it off along with multiple layers to make make it work as this is the picture with the most layers for a colored work so far. Although what I made that part as close to the game as I can, not so much with the parts located further in the background. I tried to make the front mountain look close to the game but it looked odd at the end of the so I tweaked to make the mountain stand less but fitting the background more. And the sky looked a bit darker in the game so I brightened up as well as made a few corrections here and there based on what I've saw.

Now the characters, you would think that there's nothing to talk about as I've color about these two before in a way. But there is something to talk about as while I find it odd at first as I've colored different Zeldas from different time lines and all have different wetsuits, Link's is based on one that I've colored before and that was when it was Young Link from Ocarina of Time. Would of been nice if it was a bit different but then again remember, Link had the same type of outfit in all of the games (except this one but you get the idea) while Zelda usually has a different design at least so in a way it fits. Could be the fabled Hero's Wetsuit But regardless there are some color changes as with Link, his gloves and fins are different color scheme from before but I changed it to be consistent with the Green LAMA helmet and not have the colors going all over the place. Speaking of the Green LAMA gear, that was Breath Zelda's color as well and it would of been odd if both Zelda and Link had the same color so I changed it. And after giving it some thought, I thought White would be a good color for it. Sure I don't usually do stuff like Black and White LAMA gear but for Zelda it does fit her along with her wetsuit outfit so the change stick along with a few tweaks in some places compared to the first time. Finally the logo on the top weight. It was present in the line art but a simplified version and would look odd if I left it there. I could of redraw it like I did last time but that takes way too long to do. So instead I learned a new trick in GIMP where I take a vector logo of the Sheikah Eye and added a outline of it and adjust it appropriately. So now I have a handy new trick that I can use in case something like this happens...just hope that the logo isn't turned too much to the side

And that's it, not often where I do a prepared to dive scenario as they are quite different despite the same thing. And the fact that not only is it characters I love and it's LAMA gear as well is just a cherry on top...along with a bunch of cherries on top of that as again, 35th Anniversary is today. Hopefully we have a great Anniversary with this series and I hope you love it
