Description Here is a shot for my railfan friends. I made an account at railpictures.net recently, and this was the first photo I tried to submit. They rejected it, so I thought I'd try to submit it here, where I thought some of you would want to see it.

I shot this from the Superliner lounge on the Southwest Chief while stopped in La Mirada, CA to wait for a Surfliner to pass. Note the red stripe over the cigar band on the first unit. It says, "Remote control equipped."

Funny, I've got an rpn account, and all of my shots taken with my crappy Zire 72 went through. Though probably because they figure in geography and realized I'm the best their gonna get here. [link] <---- My rpn account.

Thanks Chris, this is an old shot, I submitted it ages ago so I'm over it by now. I just don't bother with RP.net anymore.

I'm around, I'm busy with things lately though, so I mostly lurk. I respond when talked to or when I feel I need to say something though.

They rejected this?! Morons. This is why I don't even have an account over there.

Great lighting in my opinion.

Eh, I don't really think the lighting is ideal, but I certainly wouldn't have thought it was poor. Oh well, I like the community feel here better anyway.

Well, even after tightening up the levels, the toning is still really even, which means it's not just a cheap snapshot.

Yes, I suppose, it just comes down to the fact that those screeners don't have much of a clue about photography.

Agreed.

What was the reason for rejction? Poor Lighting? Most of their screeners know nothing about what photography is supposed to be.

I've been learning that. They rejected 2 of my "Night Train" shots already, which are some of my most popular here.

Like I said, they don't know what photography is. They're strict screening policy sometimes shoots themselves in the foot. My most popular photo on Rail Pictures was rejected and I had to appeal twice to get it through.

Hmm, maybe I'll try appealing some more. Any tips for things to say that might help them pass?

sullivan1985 In reply to The-Stealth-Ninja [2008-06-23 08:59:10 +0000 UTC]

Not really. It just depends who's doing the screening at the time. They have 5 people and you never know who is looking. Last time I submitted, I posted 10 photos. All rejected. Then appealed 5 of them and all went through. Other times, nothing worked.

Good luck. If you keep trying, You'll get something through their BS standards sooner or later.
