The reason for that is, when it was larger with panels this size it becomes hard to read.

The fact that Courageous Heart's smile made Applejack blush is just so cute. I guess she admires him and the relationship he has with Twilight Sparkle. Makes you wonder if she has a crush on him

Since Equestria Daily doesnt accept oc's anymore, no matter what they look like, we decided to go with the alicorn thing...even though technically Courageous Heart is NOT a true alicorn. Yes, he may look like one, but that fact that he was born like this and has no magical abilities makes him...well...a "horned pegasus."
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this strip. Still more on the way. If you've read the fanfic, you'll pretty much know what is going to happen, but if you rather wait and be surprised when the next one comes out, then Alright!!

sorry, don't get me wrong, but such an overly unique OC is a perfect example of a badly designed OC - you just tried to make him too unique.
If you were creating a whole new fictional world without any relation to existing ones, then it'd be fine. but if you wanna create an OC that would fit into an existing world of fiction, then you don't do anything like this. his problems are -1. he's an alicorn (only princesses are alicorns). 2. he's a male alicorn (only females are alicorns), 3. he's an alicorn with a defect (just to be more unique than a usual pony). and from this strip, he seems to be a flawless MAry Sue character, admired by everyone around him, 4. you need to explain to me directly who he is to justify his appearance. 5. he's dating a main character (but, funnily, that's not the biggest problem, it wouldn't be a problem at all, if he was just a normal pony).
Why is it a problem? Well, everyone can create super-powerful OC's with unique abilities, OC's who affect the history in Equestria, OC's who are best friends with main characters etc... but only their creators and their friends can really enjoy their stories/adventures... You need to be more creative to come up with an idea for a character who fits into an already existing world without ruining it. That's what writers do when they come up with new characters like Lightning Dust in the series, or Inkwell in the IDW comic.
About the writing in this comic... so far we had Rarity helping Twilight prepare for a date, which is believable, and... the Apple family helping your OC out of nowhere. this alters the world we know from the series a bit too much... it'd be more acceptable if he appeared out of nowhere, but you... established him among the main characters as if he was their best friend for ages.
and about EQD - they've been lenient on OC's for quite some time, because there is less comics created in the fandom nowadays. but I guess that alicorn OC will definitely be too much for them.

Well...
First off, no oc in the MLP universe is perfect. There will always be those who dont agree with the way they are. I'm fine with that honestly.
Second, Courageous Heart has been around for a year...in my fanfics and commissions done for me. His story of how he came to be, how he met the Mane Six, how he got together with Twilight, are all in my stories...which were made long before Flash Sentry and right before Twilight became an ALicorn (She remained a unicorn in my stories since there were mixed reactions and it was not a good time to make her one in my own). So, those who dont know him, are those who have not read about him.
Third, this comic is based off of a fanfic of mine: "Twilight's First Date". So, it's not all brand new or anything. The comic is, but the story has been around for a while.
Dont get me wrong, you do make a few good points about the whole alicorn oc thing. But if i used any other species, the story would be boring and not have a decent hook to it. Maybe it would receive less hate, but wouldnt make too much of a difference. As for Equestria Daily...no...they would not have accepted the comic even if he was a pegasus...which we were planning to do originally. But, no oc is welcomed now, so it didnt seem necessary anymore
Thanks again for the discussion on this, but let's not go further into it...since most of the time it leads to the two blocking each other. I say we both make good points on oc's, alicorn or not.
Anyway, Hope you enjoy the comic and look forward to the rest that is to come. I'm pretty excited that a story of mine has been made into a comic, and I find it to be a great honor by a talented artist and good friend

Oh...well...i'd rather not have this comic published on EQD, since this is just an act of kindness from my friend. I dont wish for him to get a lot of harshness or hate, so we both agreed to keep it here, while he makes others for EQD, like "Tia's Promise"
No matter how much my oc may get hate...which is only around 5% (so far), I will continue him for as long as possible. He is my pride and joy

about hatred - some people just don't express it publicly, and go elsewhere. so using percentage to measure its level will be highly biased.
and yes, as I stated before, it's your pride and joy.
I only feel kinda bad for the0one-u-lost, who is kinda "forced by friendship" to draw this comic because he must spend a lot of time on drawing it, yet it won't bring him much popularity, no matter how good the art will be :/

Uhm, He is doing this because he wanted to. He came to me and asked if he could make a comic of one of my stories. I gave him "Twilight's First Date" since it was one of his favorites. This comic is nothing more than a gift, and I have appreciated it all the way...as well as helped him on it.
So, this comic is just a gift and not something to become big and popular. His other comics are the ones he is hoping will receive recognition. As for Making Courageous a pegasus: IT was the plan, but since we decided not to put it on EQD, we went with the "horned pegasus" instead.

Courageous Heart was actually born with wings and a horn, but he has never been able to use magic. I know, odd...but that is what makes him unique

Dont worry, Flash is not in this...since this comic is based on a fanfic that came LONG before Flash was created.
