Description
Way back in the olden days, before even I was born, there was an American actor and musician named Bing Crosby; he made some really goofy movies with Bob Hope. And he sang "White Christmas". He was kind of a big deal. One of my better monochrome portraits, I think. Sadly, this one still hangs in my gallery, but I think one day I'll probably run into a big Bing fan. This is 8" by 10", watercolour.
Original available.

Wow, this is amazing! Perfect portrait! Is this painting still available or did you sell it? If it is available, how much are you asking for it?

My apologies for the late reply. Bing is indeed still available, double-matted white out/blue in and framed in black. I guess we haven't had enough old movie buffs coming through the gallery.

Thank you! Bing was a pretty easy portrait - there's just no mistaking the eyes.

Where in the world have you been, young lady?!? Thank you so much! This is one of my all-time favourites of my monochrome works - I don't think I could have gotten a better likeness if I'd tried.
I'm a big fan of the Road movies. I think I'll have a go at Bob Hope next week if I have the time. I'm teaching monochrome portraits in three different classes, so I bet I can do it.

Oh, geez! I've mostly just been busy with work, we also moved to a different house in town and moving is always too hectic for my taste , I truly hate it, though it always gives you an opportunity to get rid of stuff you didn't even realize you still had, lol. So, yes, absolutely wonderful painting, and if you do get a chance to do one of Bob Hope, I can't wait! I'd love to learn to do monochromatic painting, it might be easier for me since I usually work in monochrome anyway. Small steps, lol.

I imagine you have the right vision for monochrome portraits - it's all a matter of seeing the light and dark and not using the colour as a crutch. I did Bob, and put him in the Scraps.
I hate moving - when Pepper starts talking about it, I always say, "But we have a house!"

Thank you so much! This little painting is one I'm particularly proud of - it was meant as just an in-class example for my watercolour students, but when I finished it, I thought, "Gee, that's pretty good..."

LOL yeah, sometimes the smallest most simple things turn out the most awesome. I loves the way you went monotone with it and yet it still had so much feeling and life to it.

A long long time ago, I added this to my favorites on my old account. Couldn't resist seeing this wonderful watercolor portrait again. I think I'm still the biggest Bing fan to visit this page, no matter what anyone else says.

Yes, very true, because if you END with the eyes......well, I've done that before, and it doesn't end well. xDD

I definitely agree! I usually start to get a little lazy toward the end, and if you're working on the eyes last, that's not a good place to get lazy!
