Description "FIFTIES FUTURE"
Oil Painting - 48" x 48" - #5 in a Series of 7

The idea of having pollution-free driving high above the landscape in hydrogen powered hover-cars is a reality in "Fifties Future" It's an idealized glimpse into what the people in the 1950's may have envisioned.

"TODAY'S REALITY IS THE STUFF OF YESTERDAY'S DREAMS"

Some Insightful Information to think about:

There's more computing power in your average cell phone today - than there was on any of the Apollo Spacecraft that took the astronauts to the Moon.

Skyscrapers are supreme feats of engineering and design, and in many ways you can mark the passing of time through their technical innovation.

the rest in this series of Oil paintings are here:

I'd trade my shitty cell phone for a Hover Futura in a wink! I'm not much of a gadget guy. Never had, or wanted, a cell phone but had to get one when I became a trucker. A Hover Semi would be cool too!

woooow so so so awesome..the 5o style combined with these somehow modern colors..u really created an awesome work..for i can see in every detail the 5o spirits including the futuritic idea itself and at the same time it doesn't have that 5os coloring style
really great

The pin-up girls are sweet, the whole painting is so happy. I also like the Cadillac spaceships, and the car museum on the back!

heheh yeah .

i just noticed, looking at this a second time, that there is a little hover board thing in the lower left corner. there is something exactly like in real life.

yes, it is a real contraption AND all of the 50's cars ARE actual concept cars from the 50's that were made, but not put into production ((oh yeah, they had tires - I turned 'em into hover-craft))

My word, this is simply spectacular!
You've captured the very essence of retrofuturism in such an incredible manner than I can barely contain my enthused excitement!

Thank you so very much for directing me towards this series of works; I'm simply blown away by the sheer level of detail and imagination on display! The retro future certainly seems like a place for girls to enjoy

What I wouldn't give to be dressed in the very latest Atomic Fashion, complete with Breathe-O-Matic air filter helmet as I spin my brand new Buick 800 Hovercruiser into the local Diner for some Fusion Fries, a Strawberry StarShake and a BlastBurger with all the trimmings!

This piece inspires my imagination to such an extent that I am certain to be thinking of it for the next week, nay, year, nay, infinity!

Thank you again for linking me to this work, and thank you for the viewing experience

haha - I don't know where 2 start (loved your comment) ... I especially love "What I wouldn't give to be dressed in the very latest Atomic Fashion, complete with Breathe-O-Matic air filter helmet as I spin my brand new Buick 800 Hover-cruiser into the local Diner for some Fusion Fries, a Strawberry Star-Shake and a Blast-Burger with all the trimmings!"

I do attempt to create worlds with story-lines that are self-explanatory ... most times I don't think people see my vision beyond the obvious ... CLEARLY u have seen my vision to the hilt !! ... well, mostly, cuz it even goes beyond the obvious - Notice all of the gals are on a device of some kind / using technology (like we do today - 2day being the future THEY look forward to) to communicate OR play with others...

staceyowens In reply to theartyst [2010-01-01 09:57:35 +0000 UTC]

The retro future is certainly manifesting itself in our contemporary age!
We have the technology, now all we must do is make our fashion catch up!
I'll do my best to act as a role model, hehe

haha yeah man. hey so what school did you go to?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

theartyst In reply to Chrono1209 [2009-02-12 18:04:38 +0000 UTC]

no school - I'm totally "self taught" from the school of hard knocks

I wish i had the opportunity to have studied under some master like Donato, but, alas,... I had to earn a living when i turned 18, (had children at 19) so i did everything i could do as an artist since then.

Good thing I am interested and hungry for so many art-specialties over the last 30+ years - cuz, i have done numerous professionally !
