This isn't really a tutorial, more a guide to how I draw the ponies in my comics using clip studio pro.

Basic shapes are well a basic thing in drawing cartoons. Not quite a obsolete technique. But now that I see it, the official mlp character models are made by shapes. I could do it too.

There are a couple of tutorials floating around showing that ponies are basically three circles, two for the body and one for the head, and some rectangle for the legs.
Once you've got that down it's just a matter of deciding if you want to go for the hand drawn look or the show look.

I find that it's the best way to get a show accurate pony that looks like the ones in the IDW comics.

I find it interesting that on the 3rd row, the visible hooves look more like something akin to Celestia shoes rather than a hoof when not colored in.
