Kamala and Alex’s journey soon leads them towards a large tree off the island's western edge.

Looking up into the branches, Alex sees an old tree house that was covered in years' worth of vegetation. Kamala notices how the jungle has taken over this structure, as it had once been once clean and free of plants, vines, and flowers, intertwining with the wooden structure. Now, it is little more than a wooden structure covered with vines.

As they walk up the steps to the treehouse, Alex begins to realize this strange place looks eerily familiar to him. He remembers seeing some pictures of places like this in Lyndsey’s books, but for some reason, he could feel in his heart, that he had been to this place before.

Kamala remembers the day she had found this tree house, when she had been on a morning walk. She remembers how she had heard Alex’s cry in the distance, and followed its sound. That cry had soon led her to this strange place, and soon enough, it led her to Alex, her son, just in time to save him from the late leopard Khajida, albeit at the cost of her close friend Gato’s life.
