As Alex looks around, he begins to question himself, on whether he should stay with th animals and his former family, or go to England with Lyndsey and her people. Several voices of Lyndsey, Zoma, and Kamala, began to go through his head.

‘You belong with us, with civilized folk.’

‘You BETRAYED US ALL!’

‘I just want you to be happy.’

Alex slumps down onto the floor, as a small tear falls down his face. He feels so torn in the middle, unable to decide on what to do or where to go.

If he stayed here in the Jungle, there would be no telling whether or not Zoma would ever forgive him. He’d be an outcast, and worst of all, he’d lose his new civilized friends. If he decided to leave with Lyndsey and the others, he’d be with his own kind, but he would also have to leave behind the only family he’d ever had.

But if he left with the explorers, then maybe, just maybe, some small amount of forgiveness would grow in Zoma’s heart.

Perhaps if he left, Kalimba Island will be better off without him.
