Humor's a platform for learning, after all. People tend to absorb information better when it engages them to the point that they end up smiling or laughing.

Thank you!

This isn't at all relevant to Vortian legs, but I just remembered Lard Nar's horns used to swish around when he moved his head around.

Now imagine him doing a horn flip and bein' all, L'oreal, because you're worth it~

Okay with this explanation of movement I just end up thinking kangaroo. Kangaroos have a tendon in their feet/legs that acts as a spring when they bounce. They actually use less energy the faster they're moving.
But for Vortians that makes so much more sense! Thanks for making this!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to Ornja [2014-05-09 05:03:09 +0000 UTC]

Hahah! That was pretty much one of the anatomical things I used in divining how Vortians travel at faster speeds.

Less effort, the faster they run. Yep, yep. vuv

Okay, this is pretty neat. Often Vortian feet and legs are just a matter of personal style, but yeah it's also nice to see a take on it like this to show in the face of purists who might not really understand the science of such designs.

I can agree with these parts completely Very good. Although I must admit I never thought much about the running issue myself But I'll take this to heart An alien species bouncing around instead of running sounds dang adorable too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to gdpr-2852538 [2014-05-09 04:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Always gotta show the science sometime. It's a breath of fresh air after a while. c:

Bouncing and hopping sure do have their merits of cuteness, that's for sure, lol.

This certainly makes a lot of sense to me. It also falls in pretty close with the head cannon I've used in RP's.

One slight difference though, is that, personally, I always figured the lower tips of their legs were flexable enough to allow them to walk/run in a manner similar to a paralympic athlete using "Flex-Foot Cheetah" running blades (kinda like the ones used by Oscar Pistorius)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

TheCau In reply to gdpr-2309293 [2014-05-09 04:54:29 +0000 UTC]

It is? Neato! Seems like my theories aren't as far-fetched as they seemed at first. :3

Walking and trotting shouldn't really be a problem for Vortians since they're slower gaits and they can coordinate themselves much easier. Interesting concept to use for the dashing, however.

I was thinking the same thing. Or those springy extreme-sports stilts to give a longer, bounding stride with the ability to jump too.

This is amazing! *v*
I personally LOVE Vortains anatomy and I think your Vort-anatomy is the best I've seen so far x3
I love the fact that you don't make these pony legs. I personally think that REALLY doesn't fit fit a Vortain ^^Β°

Sadly I have a Vortain OC with "notmal" legs, like humans have them. My idea was that he is not entirely 100% Vort.
But now when I look at my old pictures, I really hate his legs XC
I actually wanna change them because.......Vortain legs look much cooler >v<
And your tutorial motivates me to finally draw his new design!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to Spaffi [2014-05-09 04:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Oho! That's awesome!

I wish you the best of luck with the revamp/altering of your Vort! Get some of them cool springy Vortian legs on him and you'll be ready to go. C:

I'm happy this guide's been so helpful and inspiring to you in the meantime.

Spaffi In reply to TheCau [2014-05-09 18:34:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I will, and it will look incredible xP

I mean, i never had any problems with Vortain legs, the anatomy made sense to me. I just had that one Vort Oc with straight legs.
but seeing this guide made me remember how awesome these legs look and that i really should change the design of my Oc.

Thank you for wishing me luck x33

Cau, I hope you realize that you really do just throw all sorts of sense around when it comes to anatomy. Your silly little brain obviously has something in there that's mastered anatomy, and I commend you for that. It's not easy at all, and while I have a natural knack for proportion and anatomy, I'm still learning all of the different muscles and bones, and I'm getting to the point where I'm having to nail my hands to the walls in order to... well drawing isn't very easy at that point, but I need to nail my feet to the ground and work on it. So for that, good work! You get a congratulatory heugh.
