low gravity beastie inspired by Salvadore Dali and my daydreaming of what animals might look like having evolved on a planet or moon with less than earth's gravity, expect more of these guys from me in the future

I love Salvadore Dali, and his flavour is all over that creature. At the same time it is also unique. I love his spindly legs!

Still working on a name Β They and their environment are still being worked out, once I figure out who named them and what sort of language they might speak, I'll find something fitting

If the gravity's too low, the planet won't retain an atmosphere. If the atmosphere isn't thick enough to provide adequate surface pressure, the water will simply sublimate (change directly from solid to gas with no liquid state in between) above ground and be locked in ice underground. Likely the only fundamental reason Mars isn't habitable today is because it wasn't massive enough to retain its internal heat and atmosphere. We're pretty sure as much if not more of its surface than Earth was covered by water for a bit under the first billion years of its existence.
Just thought you'd like to know since you seemed curious.

Sorry for the late reply! I know smaller planets/moons typically aren't able to retain an atmosphere, my concept for this is a moon that's been terraformed by humans with advanced technology (hence the earth like plants and animals), who have discovered a means to generate/retain an atmosphere using specialized technology.

Wow. How did you think up such a thing. Fantastic colors. It wears the most lovely headdress and cape. The subtle blend of the colors of its skin is mesmerizing.
Splendid.
Ty with all.

I don't know where my comment went.. hmmm. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I this is my favourite fantasy/ sci-fi pic I've seen in months and months. I'll probably come across as gushy fan-girl-esque, but seriously, I love this to bits. I really wish I had the money to afford the original right now, because I *want* it! I'd buy it without hesitation. It's my desktop wallpaper at the moment.

Interesting image; I made my own image depicting my own idea of moon life in my gallery awhile back too. I find the idea of populating worlds that are, in reality (as far as we know) uninhabited, to be a fascinating one.

Love the twig-limb'd, slender design of this critter! And I really dig the background. How long did it take to get the Milky Way on there?

Awesome. It definately made me think of Dahli which made me click on it. (Dahli is my favorite artist) But the colors and creativity in this make it so much more than something I looked at because it reminded me of my favorite artist. It does have that fragile look that only animals uneffected by high gravity could get away with.
So beautiful

Wow! This is amazing! I love their design and all the feather details. The background is stunning as well, I especially like the broken planet just behind earth. I'm assuming all the stars took forever. Amazing job indeed.
