1 Bruce: “So it’s decided. We’re bringing him down. Consequences be damned.”
2 Karen: “We’re not doing anything fundamentally different than Wal-Mart, when they enter a new market and deliberately take a loss on everything they sell to undercut existing businesses. It’s just that all of us are doing this to Luthor at once.”
3 Ollie: “Just to be clear, we’re probably not ‘bringing him down’ in the sense that he’ll be penniless. Just under so much pressure that he’s not profitable, and has to use his discretionary income to stay solvent, rather than fund anti-superhero activities. We all know the little coward is too much of a wimp to ever involve himself directly. The douche just hires metahumans and sits on the sidelines.”
4 Karen: “So how do we proceed? Do we want to make joint press statements?”
4 Bruce: “Yeah. No sense being subtle. We want him to feel the pinch immediately. If he doesn’t post big losses this quarter, we’re not doing it right.”
5 Superman: “Hey. I’ve heard you’re going after Luthor. I want to help.”
5 Karen: “Clark! Good to see you.”
6 Bruce: “No way. I don’t want you involved. You make yourself a target. And not just for bullets.”
6 Superman: “You wear a cape, too.”
7 Bruce: “But I work in the shadows. People don’t know exactly what I do – they just infer. And assumptions aren’t actionable. But you – everybody knows and sees what you do, right out in the open. And they judge you. So long as you help them, they judge you favorably. But if they sense that you’re ever interested in manipulating things behind the scenes, even for a good cause, they will despise you.”
8 Bruce: “You cannot help with this. You cannot get your hands dirty. People like you and Power Girl have to stay above the grime. This is a job for civilian businessmen.”
8 Superman: “I can help as Clark Kent. You need publicity for the three of you to go after him? I’ll give it to you.”
9 Bruce: “Good. That we can work with. But even as Kent, stay at arm’s length. We can’t be seen to work together, like the media was setting him up. This has to just be business, with three tycoons disabling a competitor.”
