Poor Murdoc, what a shock to the system! Hahahaha! Oh man, I can't stop laughing, but then I got all misty, LOL. This is the BEST THING EVER.
And we know he turned out to be a great dad

I really enjoyed drawing this one. Getting the expression on his face just right.
Typical morning. Getting ready to take a shower. Whoa, what's this? A card? A....a... a home pregnancy test? And it's positive?
OH FUCKIN' HELL....
HAILEY!!!!!!!!

Dear Murdoc, I am sitting here at work, trying to stifle my laughter, I keep looking at this drawing and snorting with laughter! I'VE PRINTED THIS AND IT'S ON MY DESK!
LOL, Murdoc, what did you expect?
Hailey: *sweetly* Yes?
Murdoc: What the hell are you playing at? Are you SERIOUS?
Hailey: *smiling* Deadly. Daddy.
Murdoc: *facepalming* Oh Christ....

Awesome. I'm flattered. I really am.
I just have this whole scene played out in my head. While he knows he's got other kids, they're adults already and here he is, witness to seeing one grow and be born, and then grow into a new person. I think this makes things a bit more special. The mere idea that he can actually mold this person into what he wants.

Along with some idea in his head that this is one kid who WON'T be treated badly and that hopefully he can break that cycle. He's already proved that in CS, as evidenced when it is revealed that Alex has never even been smacked. I was really quite pleased to read that, and hoped that in this tale, Murdoc and Hailey were able to provide the stable and loving home they never had.

That was the original intent with CS. Given both their backgrounds, they wanted to make sure Alec NEVER even had a grasp on where they had come from. Wanted no part of it. As indicated from the first book, the boy had been spanked once and it had been Hailey who had delivered the discipline.
Probably seems a bit fairy tale-ish, but there is this idea that he's really not as bad as depicted. Once faced with his own flesh and blood, he couldn't even fathom mistreating the child.
I pretty much imagine this 40-something year old child who indulges his son's every whim.

Murdoc ISN'T as bad as he is almost always depicted, which is why I don't draw any aggro or violent stuff with him - it's not the way he is. Fandom has a lot to answer for.
He's a dad, and has had to come to grips with all that entails, and probably has become totally besotted with this tiny version of himself, and wants to give him everything he never had as a kid himself, though I feel there will be a 'school of hard knocks' lesson or two when he's old enough to be taught that the most dangerous thing in the world is other people

I've got a few sketches that show a bit more of a darker angle, but nothing that really puts him in a bad light.
I want the characters to totally devote their attention to this little mini version of them. Give him everything that they were never allowed to have.
The journey to this goal will hopefully be humorous enough, especially with Murdoc's attitude. The goal will be to keep him as in character as possible via little jokes and remarks.
