Description

Here's the muscle study for amargasaurus. Muscles done in Prismacolor markers, white pen, and colored pencils. Labels done in Illustrator.

EDIT: I reuploaded these because I made a mistake with the muscles over the dorsal vertebrae, all fixed now!

Hmmm . . . Just from the point of view of composition, there is a lot of empty/inactive space resulting from this parallel perspective on the tail - like, half the area of the canvas, or more, is for the tail.  Couldn't the tail be looped around, as with the neck?  If not, why not stretch out the neck, too, and emphasize the fluid line of action from end to end?   It's like watching a wind up and a pitch - the eye circles around the neck, takes off on a line down the spine, and . . . whoosh . . . flies off the canvas.  Why not use the same trick on the tail that you used on the neck to keep the eye circulating on the canvas?

In any event, a fascinating creature study!  Like the fade effect of the far legs

You have a point, but I made this more as a study than a full illustration. I want all the vertebrae in a lateral view, all on display and easy to see. And the neck is curved to display the theory that its spines were used as defense.
