Definitely thought war40k but I think in order to really get the aesthetic down, you need to make them bulkier. Everything in that universe is stupidly oversized, from their 7 foot shoulder width to their 3 foot long feet.

Ah I noticed the referencing in the armour, It looks very much like a SPESS MAHRINE but you can also pick up the subtle real armour points in it

Well its actually based on warhammer fantasy. its the color scheme and large sword i based off 40k. the armor was more inspired by the adeptus custodes and ultramarines for color
as for real life reference i just looked up any old suit and figure out how the plates and whatnot go together

To do it more warhammer-like try drawing bigger torso and shoulders, at least with space marines that is the biggest visual impact. But as an illustration alone is AWESOME, but (personally) I would add more colors to the background.Β
