Description
Entry forSorry for the HUGE essay of text... I got into it, but I know if it were me, I'd want enough information to portray my opponent to their artists liking.
Name: Kenneth "Kenny" Bancho
Sex: Guy
Age: 24 (But will lie if the person is hot enough)
Height: 6'1"
Hometown: Lilycove City, Hoenn
Personality:
Kenny is an odd one to describe in just a few words and it's doubtful that one person who actually knows him would say the same thing as another would. Although, he honestly wouldn't care how someone described him. The fact is that if you notice how Kenny acts when around people compared to around pokemon you would never associate him as the same person. To merely say he likes pokemon better would mean you didn't know anything about him or his past.
Personal space and knowing when to leave him alone is a big deal for Kenny. He especially likes to be alone when he's in a bad mood (often after losing a battle/contest/etc) and it is advised that he is left to himself or in the paws of Beau. Some people have attributed it to him being shy, but they're obviously proven wrong when while happy you will commonly see him surrounded by his select friends, with him being the loudest. It should be noted that while he acts like an arse to people he really does TRY to be nice to most of them at first, but he has an uneasiness around strangers.
Confidence in whatever he does is one of Kenny's strongest points, though if he actually remembers to finish what he started is a whole other story. His attention span is somewhat limited and when he loses interest in something/someone he tends to finish things up quickly or just walk away entirely. This has caused him trouble on more than one occassion, mostly from not listening to someone while they're talking.
Kenny is very ambitious in his goals, though somewhat naive on his own limitations. He still will state openly that he wants to be the best Pokemon Trainer Breeder Coordinator Pokeathlon...ist. To date he only has four Hoenn badges, three contest ribbons, and one Pokeathlon medal, though he has competed in those more than he's won them. In Big Sky he is aiming to win that grand prize so he can buy a ranch for himself and his pokemon; however expect this idea to change several times... well, several more times than it already has.
History:
Kenny was born in the small town of Lavaridge, and while the day was a happy one in that aspect, it was also filled with sorrow as the newborns mother passed during labor. Not letting this get the best of him, Kenny's father pressed on raising his son despite both of their loss. Throughout the years the two of them toughed it out, the single father giving his son everything he could while still trying to maintain his two jobs that kept him away often. During childhood he was left with a family friend during the afternoon, then a teenage babysitter in the evening, and then his father arrived home to send him to bed before repeating it all over again, leaving again in the early morning.
When he was 10, Kenny and his father moved to Lilycove where his father was able to open one of the many shops in the port towns large shopping mall. Being the enthusiastic child he was, Kenny enjoyed taking walks over to the nearby Pokemon Safari Zone where he loved going to the upstairs observatory and watch the pokemon. Along with the Safari Zone, the move also introduced the boy to Pokemon Contests. With Lilycove being host to the Super ranked contests, Kenny was able to see some of the best Coordinators show off their pokemon mastery, all of which inspired him greatly.
By the next year, Kenny had a great determination to not only be a Coordinator, but also a Breeder and a Gym Leader. For his 12th birthday Kenny' father took him to the Safari Zone where his present was a ticket in. After some father-son advice, Kenny bound into the Zone and within the hour, he was back out with his Teddiursa, Beau. The following year, the boy (now 13) and cub left home like many kids before him on their own journey. Throughout their travels, Kenny and Beau met, fought, and befriended many pokemon and trainers. Catching wild pokemon was done sparingly, mainly due to the cost of pokeballs; in the choice of eating or catching more mouths to feed, Kenny would rather not go hungry.
As usual during these journies, the battles only got tougher and while the two trained daily it still looked as if Kenny would need more fire power to get any further. Coming across a daycare turned out to be very lucky; Kenny ended up getting a previously unwanted egg from the buildings elderly couple. It only took a week before the egg hatched into a very cute little monkey pokemon that immediately attempted to pickpocket its own trainer; Kenny finding it hilarious however, and naming the Aipom Sly. This new pokemon added to his team, Kenny was able to get up to his fourth badge before getting side tracked with his original passion... Pokemon Contests. With the help of both Beau, who had been in a few contests before, and Sly, the newbie to the whole thing, they were able to get three ribbons. The winning streak was short lived however, and before long the young trainers attention was pulled towards yet another new challenge.
While on a quick trip to Johto, Kenny caught wind of a tournament that was looking for trainers of all ages to compete. While a money prize sounded like a good enough reason to join, what really peaked his interest was the idea that he could compete in Battles, Contests, as well as Pokeathlon all in one tournament. The only problem: he lacked a good canidate for a third party member. In a rush to catch his ship to the island, Kenny caught the first thing he could find... a weak little Zigzagoon. Slightly annoyed at his bad luck, the boy and his team boarded their means of transportation with what looked like many others who planned on participating. Although, fate always has a way of catching people off guard.
During his ride, Kenny ran into a young kid who just so happened to be looking to trade one of his pokemon for... you may have guessed it, a Zigzagoon. Well not even giving it a second thought, Kenny and the boy rushed to the nearest transfer machine located on the ship. After the trade, just as Kenny was about to thank the boy, he was gone though a faint laughter could be hear fading into the distance. Naive as he was, he didn't think anything of this though... but as the ship arrived into port, who knew how this new rag tag team of three would do with this challenge called Big Sky Carnival.
Pokemon #1:
Name: Beau
Species: Ursaring (Shiny)
Sex: Male
Ability: Quick Feet
Nature: Hardheaded
Hold Item: Flame Orb
Battle style:
Beau is a lover, not a fighter, and as such he doesn't do well when battling alone, hence why he is normally only in double battles. He is, more often then not, used as a distraction as he inflicts status ailments on his opponent; his most used tactic being the use of FLING to throw his Flame Orb and inflict burns. If his partner is KO'd or Kenny is put in a position where Beau is the last remaining fighter, the Ursaring WILL have a panic attack and pass out. Seriously. However, this is where Beau shines best; being a student of Aikido and also a very deep sleep walker, the bear pokemon fights just as well as any conscious pokemon of his species. While asleep he is able to use his other senses and unconsciously know when and what to use in order to counter his opponent, although from an onlookers point-of-view he just seems to get very lucky.
Common Moves: Hidden Power (Water), Rest, Snore, Sleep Talk, Payback, and Strength
Athletic stat: Speed
Contest stat: Cute
Other info:
Beau was Kenny's very first pokemon that he caught as a Teddiursa in the Hoenn Safari Zone when he was 12. At the time he had no idea what an average Tediursa even looked like, so when he ran into the green cub he didn't think twice before he threw a clump of mud at it. Surprisingly the bear cub didn't run off, but instead started to cry. Well, being the kindhearted kid he was, Kenny went over to the little guy, picked him up, and tried his best to calm the cub pokemon down... then gave up, bopped him on the head with a Safari Ball and captured him. It wasn't until their first battle that Kenny learned from his opponent that Beau was actually a very rare pokemon, which has since then been the most requested pokemon for trading (though he ALWAYS declines).
Beau loves to draw, eat peanut butter and honey sandwiches, and after watching his trainer do it, he became an avid follower of Aikido and it's teachings of . He dislikes fighting, small bug pokemon, large bodies of water or anywhere he can't have his head above water, and he HATES being inside his pokeball; unless hurt he is always seen walking along side Kenny.
Pokemon #2:
Name: Aunt Flo (aka Flo)
Species: Wormadam
Sex: Female
Ability: Anticipation
Nature: Old
Hold Item: Wise Glasses
Battle style:
Depite being Kenny's main fighting pokemon, Flo doesn't exactly look to fit the description. She likes to act frail and weak while using moves such as Captivate or Metal Sound subtley, in hopes that the opponent won't realize what hit him/her until Flo is striking the first move. When the opponent does mannage an attack Flo relies on her defense (either using Protect or her natural defenses) to survive and then strikes back, normally while they're still in close if possible. Other than that, she doesn't have much strategy behind her attacks, although she does seem to take pride in debuffing and then demoralizing the larger opponents more as they tend to take it harder that they lost to a little old lady pokemon... or so Kenny assumes.
Common Moves: Hidden Power (Ghost), Protect, Safeguard, Psychic, Attract, Captivate, and Metal Sound
Athletic stat: Stamina
Contest stat: Tough
Other info:
Flo is the oldest pokemon that Kenny has, not suggesting he caught her first, but really he traded for her and it was neglected to be mentioned just how ancient she already was. Afterwords, it made sense why the kid who traded her seemed to be so happy to receive a very common Zigzagoon. Seeing as Kenny just received her he has yet to figure her out fully, but judging from her practice battles, she definitely hasn't forgotten her way around the battlefield in her old age.
Flo has an odd attraction to very gaudy jewelry, is attached (literally) to her tall pink hairdo, and it seems like she doesn't like either of them to be touched. She also appears to have a fear of fire in all its forms, small and large, as made apparent when she was let out of her ball only to be surrounded by several fire type pokemon playing fire tag.
Pokemon #3:
Name: Sylvester (aka Sly)
Species: Aipom
Sex: Male
Ability: Pickup
Nature: Diva
Hold Item: Random (See Ability)
Battle style:
In battle, Sly definitely lives up to his name. He has a knack for having sticky fingers, and 9 out of 10 times WILL steal his opponents held item (assuming they have one he can see). Although, if he doesn't find it attractive or useful he tends to just use Fling to chuck it right back. Another tactic he often resorts to is called the "Ninja Clone Technique", where he combines Agility, Double Team, and Substitute to create what looks like a dozen Sly copies. When the opponents guard is dropped in the confusion, Sly attacks side by side with his Substitute, if its still available, normally from behind.
Common Moves: Hidden Power (Dark), Double Team, Substitute, Switcheroo, Thief, and Fling
Athletic stat: Jump
Contest stat: Cool
Other info:
Being the baby of the team doesn't seem to affect Sly in the least and he actually acts more mature than most others of his species. Due to the weird turn of events that got him in Kenny's hands, there has been an air of mystery as to who were Sly's real parents. After doing some research however, the teen was able to figure out that the father had to of been a Persian due to some unnatural moves Sly knew. Ever since he hatched hes had an odd interest of stealing things, though Kenny knows he doesn't mean to do it in a harmful manner, it's just a natural curiosity of being a pokechild.
Sly has a great talent infront of crowds, which is the main reason why Kenny has so adamantly kept the Aipom in Pokemon Contests mainly. While he is able to easily enter almost any contest type, he most often is in Cool contests. Sly is somewhat of an actor and in noticing this Kenny made several of the Aipom's outfits to fit different contests. Even though he loves to perform in contests, Sly always requires the same thing before a show: one cup of Pomeg berry, a glass of fresh Tamato berry juice, and half of a Chople berry. To date, Sly doesn't seem to have any fears.

You know, I never liked the "look" of Aipom, and when I chose to draw one it was only as a place holder for when we're allowed to swap in Gen 5 pokemon, but after drawing Sly a lot (I'll post a sketch dump soon) I found that I really enjoy drawing him.
Oh, and Flo was inspired by Mama Baggs from Courage the Cowardly Dog, so I hope she's scary.

Thank you so much. That's really what I was trying for since I think that's why I didn't make it into Battle Frontier Ohana Island.
