Is that a secondary deflector on the bottom of the Photon Cannon or a massive dedicated targeting sensor?
From this angle it kinda looks like it's blocking the torpedo tube lol.

Overall great work, I'm kinda surprised they never re-used the model for this during the Dominion War arc. Would've made a lot more sense than some of the weird kitbashes that showed up.

Thank you very much!

The glowing things are my small addendum, I think they are sensors.

And yeah, you discovered my dirty little secret - it does block the torp tube.

But who needs that thing when you've got the top-mounted launchers AND the big gun?

Because they are not the heroes the Federation needs... but what the Federation deserves. Bwcause they are the unsilent minority, the watchful protectors. The starbound knights.

(and even here, I managed to do a cold war reference )

I was thinking of the "unsilent minority" part. Tricky Dick Nixon said that the "silent majority" supports the Vietnam War. Well, the First Fleet could never keep its pie-hole shut

Wow, what a great scene! The Galaxy-X looks fantastic. And I really digg the small ships. They remind me a bit of the Nova-class. Any more infos/pics about them?

The small ships are what the Defiant was intended to be. Google "Defiant Pathfinder" for details.

LOL that just makes me think "what if Worf got his own ship, and was a Galaxy-X?"

Lt.: "Photon Cannon is at full power sir."

Capt. Worf: "Good, Open a channel to the cube... I am Worf, Son of Mogue, and THIS is my BOOMSTICK, assimilate THIS! FIRE!"

Kittamaru [2012-08-10 20:23:21 +0000 UTC]

*grins* Given that that Heavy Phaser Cannon is powered directly from the second warp core... I would imagine it would wreck the shit out of even a Borg Sphere... a Cube would probably take a few hits to pound into submission though...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thefirstfleet In reply to Kittamaru [2012-08-10 20:31:29 +0000 UTC]

Imagine the following attack pattern: the Galaxy-X opens up with the wave motion gun (I'm a nerd, I know ), with the escorts providing fire support, weakening the Cube with transphasic torpedoes (Mk I transtorps, not the one-shot-per-cube of the future), finishing the job with the Dreadnought firing a full torpedo barrage.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kittamaru In reply to thefirstfleet [2012-08-10 21:10:55 +0000 UTC]

*grins* Truth be told, I see it going a little differently, though I also see a pair of Akira's flanking the formation.

The Galaxy-X and both escorts unleash a barrage of random-nutation phaser fire, overwhelming the Cube's adaptive systems. As the escorts continue their pulse-phaser flurry, the Dreadnaught diverts all power to it's Phaser Cannon (yes, wave motion gun, lol! I loved SBY!) and a single blast tears into the Cube, rending its armor plating and disrupting power systems. Finally, the Dreadnaught and two Akira's unleash a hailstorm of torpedoes, the Galaxy-X firing five Mk XVII Photons from each of it's dual forward burst launchers, and the two Akiras unleashing dual Mark XXV Photons from each of the six tubes on it's forward facing rollbar. The escorts add in their Mk II Quantum microtorpeodes, then all five ships go to warp as the core of the Cube goes critical

What type of vessels are escorting the Big E?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

thefirstfleet In reply to we-r-nomad [2012-08-10 20:32:17 +0000 UTC]

Defiants. The original concept Defiants which were later modified to be the Nova class of VOY. I liked the original concept better so I made it the Defiant of the Polarisverse.

we-r-nomad In reply to thefirstfleet [2012-08-10 21:14:32 +0000 UTC]

Nice picture, but we differ in opinion regarding which is the preferred Defiant design. I think they got it right with the one they chose--but that's me.

Which makes her the USS Resolute. Not the Enterprise.

we-r-nomad In reply to TerranAbassador [2012-08-11 12:47:50 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand. Sure TFF made up his own ship, but the Enterprise was never rechristened in AGT.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

TerranAbassador In reply to we-r-nomad [2012-08-11 04:25:15 +0000 UTC]

No it's not. [link]

Besides, the Enterprise doesn't have a 4 or 8 in her registration. The registration of this ship is 71418, not 1701.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

we-r-nomad In reply to TerranAbassador [2012-08-11 12:46:01 +0000 UTC]

I see, I forgot that the Thefirstfleet made up his own ship. But even so, it's obvious that the Resolute is based on the modified Enterprise from "All Good Things..."

Kitsunechild [2012-08-10 18:58:15 +0000 UTC]

I wonder what would happen to a Borg Cube if hit by that Phaser Cannon... You should do a pic of that sometime! I could just see the blast doing what it did to those Negh'var's in the final episode and going in one end and out the other. *drool*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thefirstfleet In reply to Kitsunechild [2012-08-10 20:34:22 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure one shot would not destroy a Cube. A coffin ship, sure, a sphere... maybe. I think a few shots from the cannon plus a volley of quantum/transphasic torpedoes would do the job.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitsunechild In reply to thefirstfleet [2012-08-11 04:45:38 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps. It would still be something to see what kind of damage 1 shot from a Phaser Cannon could do. Since the Borg don't know about it right away, they can't predict how powerful it would be.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

LoneStranger [2012-08-10 18:36:11 +0000 UTC]

Team this ship up with a couple Defiant class ships (the canon Defiant instead of the Nova class) and that would be fantastic.
