Active Mode (Green) - When pressing the button and twisting the dial a certain way, the core itself pops up and displays the current alien selected in a holographic form. Twisting the dial will cycle through the current unlocked aliens and once the core is pressed back down, the DNA transformation process will commence.

Recharge Mode (Red) - Once the transformation has ended after 10-15 minutes, the Omnitrix will lock itself after a certain period of time. Switching between alien forms will speed the time-out and thus making the recharge time longer. This is a security feature that prevents the user from accessing Master Control.

DNA Scanner (Yellow) - The Omnitrix can detect any DNA samples that are not present within itself and thus can scan the foreign sample to be added to the DNA library. By scanning through either physical contact or close range scanning, it matches the species and then moves the identified species to the active playlist.

Self Destruct Mode (Orange Timer) - In Self-Destruct Mode, the Omnitrix charges energy while counting down until it explodes. S.D.M. functions as a last resort should the Omnitrix fall into the wrong hands. Normally the charge would destroy anything within a 10 meter radius, but a Lipixian virus once enhanced this radius to destroy half of the Universe, luckily this was prevented.

Reboot Mode (Blue) - If the Omnitrix were to ever be in critical damage or severely hacked, it will lock every feature until the problems are resolved, thus forcing a reboot on itself. Normally the reboot sets the Omnitrix to how it was previously, but time and time again this reboot mode has caused it to change appearance and even unlock/lock new alien transformations.
