Description 3... 2... 1... Who better to kickstart the Nextwave (heh) of my X-Men Redesigns than Boom-Boom!?

The main point of this series isn't to reinvent the wheel, but to distill each character down to a design that I believe captures their core essence by combining all or as many of their iconic looks as possible, diversifying the silhouettes and overall designs by incorporating aspects unique and inherent to them as a character, and adding cohesion by incorporating some sort of X motif beyond the usual X-buckle, chest logo, or shoulder patch we so often see. While you can design any number of outfits that "work" from random individual designs to fully uniformed teams, I felt that for the X-Men in particular reflecting each person's uniqueness and inherent beauty just makes sense.

For Tabitha Smith here, you'll notice two major variants, each based on a mid to late 80s design with my own flair injected in. Let's go top to bottom, left to right!

ICONIC COLORS: Pink (& Gold). Whether it's oversized sweaters, lapels, strapless tops, or extreme 90s jumpsuits, Tabitha's most enduring color is good ol' pink! I liked her & Jubilee having similar design elements & colors, but wanted each to still be fairly distinct.

HEADBAND: The hair tie sticking off to the side is straight from her earliest appearances.

GREEN VISOR, CURLY PIXIE CUT, & FACE: She's always worn sunglasses but I opted to swap those out to bring in her green oversized 90s visor and was also interesting in giving her more of a curly hairstyle, inspired by the super curly, almost instant noodle ramen look Rob Liefeld gave her in the 90s (inspiration--you never know WHERE it'll come from!) as opposed to her original choppy cut or recent straighter hairstyles. I ended up finding the PERFECT reference image online of a model with short curly hair wearing this oversized pair of glasses. The visor & hair are essentially 1:1, the face was used as reference but I ended up changing her expression to more of a mischievous smirk, and model's top lent its vertical cutout to the design.

BASE OUTFIT & X-SUSPENDERS: The strapless top, suspenders, & capris look is inspired by her impromptu outfit designed by Jon Bogdanove from the original X-Terminators miniseries. It's easily her most fun & unique look in my opinion (sorry X-Force & Nextwave fans!). The suspenders, naturally, form an X.

BOMB JEWELRY: Old timey bomb earrings, 321 "countdown" necklace, in your face "BOOM" belt buckle, and a wristwatch for her time bombs.

BLAZER: The blazer is inspired by her earlier X-Factor appearances as designed by Marc Silvestri though I made it a bit more fitted and turned the lapels into X-lapels because of course I did. I wanted to make sure the costume worked with or without the jacket and regardless of whether the jacket was closed or open.

SNEAKERS: I swapped out the flats she wore in X-Terminators for a pair of white, blue, & yellow sneakers which felt a bit more practical given the stuff mutants typically have to deal with. I wanted something that evoked the Blue & Gold X-Men palette and also fit the casual vibe of the rest of the design.
