(postin this a bit early because w how my back feels i think i’m gonna take a little bit of a lazy week as far as art goes)

And the other family tree i had in mind is done! Not nearly as busy as ember and flame's, but i do imagine there's a bit more to it than this. I think therma would probably have some siblings (also left possibility that one of those siblings or their kid could be lavos, just as a reference since my original version of them was cynder's sister) but i didn't have any ideas for them and i couldn't see any of them having story relevance so i decided not to make more work for myself

-Midnight Shadowkeep

she/her

Midnight considers herself the peak of elegance and has a love for gothic fashion, lucky coincidence for a shadow dragon. She can be a bit emotionally distant though, and isn't the most lovely dovey person. That's likely why her and Dusk's relationship ended up not working out, though the two of them remained close after and it took Midnight a laughably long time to even move out.

-Dusk Scoria

they/them

Dusk is a bit of a grumpy old shadow dragon with a very Raspy voice (they blame their fire dragon heritage). They still have a good sense of humor to go along, but it's obvious they're very easily annoyed by a lot of things. Them and Midnight left each other on very good terms and still talk and even spend time together, but Dusk still likes to make 'my ex' jokes, often with Midnight in the same room. They just think it's funny.

-Derecho Voltarus

he/him

Derecho is a massive electric dragon with am even bigger more booming voice. Despite first impressions though he's quite jolly and laid back. He wasn't exactly revered as the 'best' knight during his time as one, spending his fair share of time either goofing off or breaking the rules. He has a strong belief that chivalry is all about loving and caring for others and assuring they're safe and happy with no thought of a reward. He ended up having issues with many of the other Knights of Warfang and retired very early to go take care of Stratus.

-Stratus Brume

Due to a genetic issue Stratus was born without eyes. She can still get around on her own somewhat, being able to feel the movement of the air around her. But she doesn't feel comfortable flying or gluiding on her own without someone in front for her to hold onto their tail and coast on the updraft of their wings. She met Derecho when she was quite young, loving the way he made her laugh and always feel comfortable. The two eventually went from best friends to married.

-Therma Shadowkeep

she/her

Therma's a quiet, gentle, shadow dragon. She prefers to leave the fighting to other, and instead help around in more subtle ways. Therma is one of the few non fire dragons to have big success as a blacksmith. She’s got a good feel for the metals she works with as well as a warriors specific needs. Paired with her steady hand and eye for detail it didn't take her long to become a favorite within Warfang. It also didn't take long for Squall to become a favorite customer, unlike many other wind dragons asking for light rapiers or shortswords, Squall requested a massive greatsword. It was very attractive in a nerdy way.

-Squall Brume

she/they

Squall grew up in warfang as she trained to become a knight just like her father used to be. She actually grew to be close friends with the guardians in their apprentice days, and even Malefor himself. After Malefor’s betrayal Squall began to doubt what they wanted, and what her idea of justice even was. Regardless though she still ended up becoming a knight and it's through that that Squall met Therma. The two fell deeply in love and after Malefor’s imprisoned in the convexity she retired from knighthood to enjoy her life with Therma. It was soon after though that they realized even in his imprisonment Malefor’s reign was far from over, with that they decided to leave their egg with Squall's old friends, the guardians, wile holding the apes back against Warfang. Of course we know how that ends. That was the last straw that broke Squall and ended her knight career for good, it took 5 years and moving back to Cloudy Domain with her parents before her and Therma felt well enough to try at having kids again.

-Zephyr Brume

he/they

Considers himself quite butch and a punk, but is actually one of the less athletic of the family. Unlike Ari they can't stand the idea of staying after class to join an athletics or aerobatics team. He'd much rather trespass in the local scrap yard and fuck around with his friends.

-Aria Brume
(Typically just goes by Ari)

she/her

Ari's much more quiet than either of her siblings, taking more after Therma in that way. Though under that soft exterior she often has something very snarky to say under her breath. Ari's very serious about her athletic career and is a part of her school's aerobatics team. She isn't made for quite the speed or soaring capabilities Squall or Cynder are, but she's very good at maneuverability and can quicly dodge between any obstacle in the air.

-Cynder

she/they

Cynder obviously knows nothing of her family, and they likely have no idea she even survived (given Squall gave up her knighthood before her time as 'the terror of the skies'). But had they remained with Squall and Therma they would have named her 'Tempest'.
