Really good scene conceptually. The poses are a bit stiff.

Lovely composition for this one, it puts some nice emphasis on Oracle's importance.
The contrast with each different scene and setting and character stands out nicely as well--excellent work!

I'm afraid I don't have any parties to throw at you... I could throw you a ball if you like... or maybe a frisbee... Don't think it'd make it all the way to Kuwait, though; my throwing arm's not that good.
Anyway, I like the way you colored it. I especially like the way you did the lights in the background of the far right panel.
For some reason the main pose reminds me of those ancient Egyptian murals; despite the fact they didn't have wheelchairs back then. At least I don't think they did. I suppose they could have put someone on some sort of cart... Anyway, I think it has to do with the way you depicted her in profile; they always depicted people in profile in those Egyptian paintings.

There's a girgian party tomorrow anyway (it's like Muslim Halloween, meaning LOTS of chocolate), so I'll be all partied out! Thanks for the thought though.
I'm starting to notice that I draw a lot of profiles. To be perfectly honest, I think that's mostly because I find them very easy to draw.

Chocolate, eh? Well, they've got you hooked to be sure... So what's this "Girgian" like anyway? (And for that matter, how do you pronounce it?)
In my observation, you tend to draw mostly in 3/4ths perspective, actually. Of course, that's just going off of what I see here. I don't know how much you draw that you don't plop up on here.

Basically, Girgian is a holiday celebrated by us peninsula region countries to celebrate children, and it takes place when there's a full moon on Ramadan. So that's the middle of Ramdan, about the 14th, since we go by the moon for the Islamic calandar. So I really shouldn't have said "Muslim Halloween", it's more cultural than religious.
If any new family has a new baby that year, then they send packets of treats to all their friends. This one came from a friend of ours who had a new grandson recently: [link]
Everyone dresses up in traditional clothing and to add to the sugar rush kids go door to door and sing songs and get a handful of candy in return. The songs they sing are all about well wishes to the children of the house. The kids are all pretty hyper that night, but at least they're outdoors.
Us old people also are also pretty restless that night since many Kuwaitis prefer Arabic coffee with their sweets.
I really don't know how to tell you how to pronounce it, since it has the letter "ع" in it and there's nothing like it in the English alphabet. Non-Arabic speakers find that trying to make that noise hurts their throats, and they usually pronounce it "uh" instead. So it's "Gir" like a dog growl, "Gee" to rhyme with me, and "Anne" like the name, and you'll be pretty close.
Hope that helped and that I didn't ramble too much.

That's very interesting. I kind of like the idea of celebrating the newly arrived kiddos like that. It's kind of like when we go Christmas caroling, too, what with singing door to door for goodies. It's kind of a conglomeration of that and Halloween; somewhere in-between. Coffee and chocolates before bed probably is a not-so-good idea, though, seeing as they're both chock full of caffeine. But hey, it is a once a year thing; it's not like you'd do it every night...
I'd still like to find out how it's pronounced in Arabic; I do some pretty wacky things with my voice when I'm voicing my cartoon characters, so I think I might be able to pull it off. It couldn't be any worse than doing Croc's voice, which is gruff and gravelly and usually requires I lubricate my vocal chords with something like cough drops. All the same, that does help with the pronunciation. You did a pretty good job explaining it, especially since you had to do it by text instead of being able to just pronounce it for me.
And no, you didn't ramble too much. I did kind of ask for it, after all...

I see... or rather, I hear. The last part of the word's more like "ahn" except you use the back of the throat. I see how that might be difficult for some people to pronounce, but I don't really see how it would hurt...
That was a lot of candy; wasn't one of those things shaped like the Kuwait Towers?

Oh, we got a whole bunch of letters that come from odd places of your mouth and throat. And there are a few sounds in the English language that we don't have letters for. A lot of Arabs pronounce the "p" sound as "b" because we don't have a P. If that's the case, then hearing them say "pepsi" sounds a bit weird. And we don't have a "ch" sound letter anywhere, but we stick our "t" and "sh" letters together and everyone knows that when they write "Tsharlie" in Arabic, they mean "Charlie".
And yes, good for you! You can recognize Kuwaiti landmarks.

That's fascinating. I sometimes pronounce my "p"s as "b"s, too, but only when I have a cold. That's interesting about the whole "ch" thing, though. And if you pronounce "tsh" like that it actually does come out kind of like "ch". It reminds me of a time I had to teach someone how to roll their "r"s and I figured out it helped to start by replacing the "r"s with "d"s of all things. It's interesting how speech patterns and vocal sounds work.
I wouldn't say I recognize Kuwaiti landmarks; I just recognize that landmark. They're pretty famous; they're to Kuwait what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris or Big Ben to London. And to be fair, they are pretty uniquely shaped. All you have to do is see them once and you remember them.

Yes, it is always interesting to find out about these things. Sometimes, even when when people don't understand a bit of it, they can still recognize a language based on the sound of it.
Well, let's be honest, it's the only landmark we have worth recognizing. The story goes that we really needed a desalination plant, but they it had to be built in a place that would block some of the Amir's sea view. So the solution was build the plant, but make it pretty! I'm not sure how accurate that story is, but the Amir DID pick out the design himself.

That's true. Have you ever seen the Swedish Chef on the Muppet Show? His speech is nothing but gibberish and probably in no way actually resembles Swedish, but since it mimics a lot of the sounds found in Swedish, that's what it sounds like to the rest of us.
That's an interesting story, too. That's actually a pretty clever way to solve the problem. Someone must have thought outside the box to come up with that one.
