At first i had it as just two parallel lines, then when i looked at pictures of ropes i saw the intricacy and how it is made up of many strings weaved together. So that's how it ended up looking the way it does. Something to be said about the power of observation.

I admit, that's how I usually draw ropes (as two parallel lines). Usually because I can't really be bothered to draw all of the woven strings. XD

It actually started as a pencil sketch, something i used to do many, many years ago. So in fact this was an old style. But then i used modern technology to enhance it which is just amazing, because it just takes a picture and highlights it differently and gives it a really nice look.
