Description
I found this lil beaut at the camera shop I now frequent. I was able to pick her up for only $15 (which is a great steal if you ask me). This model was from 1957 and a high-end deal. She still works and even came with film still in it. I'm tempted to buy a new reel and try it out, but it would be horribly expensive to develop. Oh well, she'll be a nice addition to my collection.Taken on my Cannon AE-1 with the 50mm 1:3.5 lens.

Nice camera! The yellow and red square in what I guess it the view finder is awesome. I just got a Capri K28. It looks very similar to this model only I guess this one has turret lenses. It's good to see some people still like the old 8mm cameras.
Also, the picture looks awesome!

Thank you very much! I adore older cameras. I actually use a Canon AE-1 that is over 30 years old. There is just a timeless quality and feel that you can only have with them.

Thank you! Have you been able to use yours? I have been itching to, but I do not have any film for it right now.

No...no film, but either way I like to just leave it on the shelf. It is a piece of Vintage Americana...just wanna hang on to it. I also have a shelf of other classic photography stuff. Maybe I will take a photo of it! Your welcome by the way!

Oh yes. I am becoming quite a fan of older cameras as well. I would love to take some pictures with them as I think there is a certain feel you cannot get otherwise. I'd love to see what others you have!

Wow, what a beauty! Great find, and quite a lovely photo, I would have to add. You've got some skills with that AE-1.
It's good to see someone still using film, too. I'm tempted to dust off my old Canon FT-b now...

I really need to go back and get some others. They have a ton of different cameras there.
Thank you very much. I really don't like working with digital except with self portraits. It just does not seem right...

I can understand -- When I took photography in college, I actually had to argue with the local camera shop to sell me something older than the fairly new AE-1 (wow, that's dating me, isn't it?). I'm not a big fan of cameras that want to do everything for me, much less of a fan of cameras that think they know how to take a picture better than I do.
Even on its "Manual" setting, *lockstock 's digital camera gives me "estimated" shutter speed and f-stop, then tries to adjust the flash speed and other settings behind my back. The end result being, of course, that none of the pictures I take come out anywhere near what they should look like. I'm hoping that a digital SLR will be a lot more like its analog counterpart...

lol The AE-1 isn't that old, though, camera makers would want you to think that. I do agree though. I have no desire to get a newer film camera because even "manual" ones still have automatic functions. It's nice to be able to look at a good picture and know that was from your skill, not from the adjustments the camera makes.
I would like to get a digital SLR someday as well, but it would make me feel unfaithful to what i know. :/

I've vowed that if I ever get another digital camera, it will have to be an SLR. Preferably one that I can strip the features down on to at least come close to my FT-b (although I have to admit that I'd be lost without the built-in light meter). It'll be a sad day for photographers when they only make cameras that take "perfect" pictures.
And on a completely different (but more appropriate) note, *lockstock and I found a Capri K27 just like this one the other day. They wanted something like $65 for it, though. Meh. It was, arguably, a better deal than many that we found...

Oh yes, the light meter is my best friend with the camera. I lost the one page of notes I had from my photography class that gave the best f-stop/shutter speed for general situations. Such luck!
Really? That's funny. I was thinking this and the Kodak I posted would have been more expensive. The shop owner claimed that he would not be able to sell them otherwise, so they were $15 each. I really want to go back and nab some more. I'm hopeful to find an old 40's or so press-style camera.

I have a few old cameras too. They're usually fairly easy to track down with google if you know the maker.

beautiful cam, but why is there a red and yellow square in the viewfinder?

Thanks. I'm sure the squares had to do with being able to properly line up for certain settings. There's a few things on this camera I need to learn about.
