Description It's been ages since I posted anything, because my scanner is Satan, but I finally got it working again, so here is the "Jabberwock" from Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll.

This design is a thousand times better than the one used in Burton's movie

As far as I know, this Jabberwock is the only one based on the original illustration while not being so goofy or unconvincing in the process.

Thanks. I drew this from memory, with no reference, and added some of my own ideas, like giving it canines as well as incisors, and making it more spiny.

This version almost looks like Gyarados.

Good God, it looks like some horrid viperfish on steroids.

I did have deep sea fish in mind, so that's no coincidence.

The claws that catch...
Cool, great work on this guy. Personally I prefer the Bandersnatch.

Thanks. I'll have to draw the Bandersnatch eventually. I've had a very specific image of the Bandersnatch since I was a kid.

Jabberwock for the win
Could it be that all pictures of this animal are based on the picture by John Tenniel? The poem doesn't say really much about it's appearance

I was definitely inspired by Tenniel.

I think every picture of the Jabberwock is inspired by Tenniel

Most of them. Tenniel is the man.

If you're talking about Carrol-Illustrations, he is indeed

Interesting, when Alice was first published, Tenniel was the big draw. Nobody cared about this Lewis Carrol guy.
