Jus my opinion but they have got new artists in since the old days when it was all jus Samwise and Metzen. [link]
Its story continuity, or lack of, that pisses me off. Shamans were never meant for the Alliance and priests in horde. No! Ive played all the campaigns and I dont seem to remember using blood lusts for ally units. As for the return of Deathwing dont get me started on how totally out of context that is!

Blizzard said that's actually a Dark Templar that made clothing and armor out of Zerg carapace.

My younger brother has finished Hellgame and me, I'm still in the beginning part, LOL! Whenever I have the time to play games, it's usually DotA or one of Blizzard Games.
I'm playing a Necromancer in Diablo 2 in single player mode. Tough beating Diablo alone!!!

PashodAvati In reply to thenonhacker [2008-01-18 20:20:46 +0000 UTC]
Hellgate is one of my greatest disappointments. I've started an Evoker, and went as far as Hell itself, but the big floating meatballs beat the shit out of me, so I quit. Later I made a Guardian, but when I bumped into a big meatball that went on creating his little friends that cooked my in seconds, I was so pissed off that I uninstalled the game. And they dared call it a "kind-of Diablo-like game". Hah! You could finish the game with every character in Diablo, although there are some problematic parts (Sorceress/Necromancer vs. Duriel, for example), but still you could do it if you weren't a whiny little six year old. But this piece of crap is designed for multiplayer - give me a break! My brother went up once, and he couldn't figure out how the chat system works - if it worked at all. Geez...
Necromancer? Oh, thats my favourite! Go for Golems (Blood or Fire, the others are crap) and that railgun-bone-spell (forgot the name
), and some corpse explosion comes in handy when you're killing the cows. Poison nova is only fun if you're cheating
(every spell is lvl 20 or perhaps even 99). You should actually try that, its awesome when you butcher a whole screenful of monsters with one glorious blast of poison. ^_^ Aaah, the good old days... when I wasn't bored of Diablo...

I am trying Fire Golem now!
Here's what I did:
For the entire Normal Game:
- 4 Points Skelly Warrier
- 4 Points Skelly Mage
- Upped Skelly Mastery to Max. Managed to do this before Baal.
I have 1 Fire Golem, 1 Golem Mastery, 1 Golem Resistance.
The guide I read said that I should Max up Skelly Mastery if I want Skellies to be usable in Nightmare. It also said "Put Some on Golem Mastery", but for me, 1 point is enough for now, coz I have to Max Up the Bone Spirit first. Anyway, if Golem dies, simply recast.
Items: I am investing on lost of +Chance to get Magic Items, and % Additional Gold. Gambling is more doable for Necromancer, coz he spends most of the time summoning and waiting for them to finish killing monsters for you!

o_O Well thats quite the opposite of what I was doing. Of course, I never read any guides at all, I just went for what seemed to be right, and was compatible with my gameplay style. That means resourcefulness, creativity, quick pace if I get a routine, and of course some massacre. So probably thats why I didn't really bother with the skeletons, and went for the golems and bone spells, so that I have somenone who can take the beating much better than I ever could, and I can cast my naughty spells at the unfortunate horde of Killable Whatevers.
hehehe...
Concerning items, I went for things that gave resistance, stats, skills, defence (in this order), I never really put much effort into getting the best item possible. If some Flayer happened to throw a golden gothic armour (a funny thing my brothers and I love XD), then hurray! But I would never go and kill Mephisto and Duriel (would go on to the other bosses out of sheer boredom) a thousand times to get something big. Of course I gave it a try on a few occasions, but not as much as I've seen others, who couldn't sleep well if he couldn't get a better item that day. I was just playing, having fun. Thats why I don't remember going further than Nightmare's first or second chapter. It wasn't fun anymore, it became annoying that some dirty Lightning Enchanted Fallen fried me like an egg for breakfast.
But hey, don't let me ruin your enthusiasm! Necromancers rock!

I'll try that build in my next game! And a max on Poison Explosion, get a Barbarian Merc for the Physical Damage.
I read that the best curse to focus on is Iron Maiden.
Thing is, I find myself relying on Amplify Damage more!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PashodAvati In reply to thenonhacker [2008-01-22 17:49:15 +0000 UTC]
Well, Iron Maiden is only efficient against melee mobs. Amplify Damage is almost as good as the Iron Maiden, though if I remember well the AOE has been decreased in one of the patches. I remember casting an Iron Maiden with a cheat-made Necromacer - it covered the whole screen, even though I was pointing at the character. Aaah, those were the days I tell you.
My experiments with Poison Explosion turned out to be a failure, but I could be easily proven wrong. Poison Nova is for cheat-Necros only, since the amount of skill points one would need to make it as good as it is when you cheat (all skills lvl 20) don't worth the effort. And after a few minutes I eventually got bored with it and decided to do things the clean way.
If you put points on Corpse Explosion, only the AOE will increase, yes? I don't remember well.

I LOVE the Amp Damage + Corpse Explosion Combo!
Especially in the Tombs with lots of Radaments and Skellies,
or a bunch of Succubus in Ice Caves,
or the many COWS in the Secret Cow Level!
They like fold and flop instantly, makes you want to kill kill kill and gain exp!!!
