The story of the Coonigator is a pretty simple one. For some time in recent years and more so in the last decade in the area around Montpelier Vermont. Sightings have been made of what people describe as animal generally the same in appearance as your average raccoon but the snout of these reported creatures are said to resemble a crocodile or alligator,
Most people who spot a Coonigator from a distance often think the creature to be a regular raccoon only to be terrified when one stops to take a closer look at the alleged creature.
Most officials who have looked into stories of Coonigators are certain that the explanation is definitely not a reptile mammal hybrid. The official statement on the cause of the Coonigator sightings nothing more than sightings of opossum or regular raccoons. However some eyewitnesses still are confident they saw something not normal.

Among the different types of creatures I have designed several groups of creatures of what I call internally Mammal-like Reptiles which fall in two main groups the Revolved Synsapsids who have been bio-engineered by humans started shortly after 5200AD. The rest of the “mammal-like reptile” fall in a general group that is made up of the remnant surviving groups of “mammal-like reptiles”. The group my Coonigator belongs to the revolved Synapsids.
Physically my version of Coonigators are generally shape like a reptile that is a long body with a long thick tail their four squat limbs sprawl out from the body. The heads of Coonigator sit squarely in front of their chest on the bottom and it’s shoulders practically are touching the back of the creatures skull. The majority of a Coonigator is covered with a layer of fur which grows long towards Coonigators underside.
The heads of Coonigator like their namesake is similar to a alligator in shape. On the tops of their heads are a pair of external ears that are unlike any mammal ears in appearance. The eyes of Coonigator are small and slanted which gives Coonigator poor overall eyesight. Instead of sight Coonigator mainly rely on their strong sense of smell which is as strong as a Earth black bear. Around the nostrils and eyes on Coonigator are long mammal-like whiskers.
My Coonigator in my lore are native or at least the majority of their population is native to the moon of my future Jupiter which I refer to as the Remnants of the God King. You see Jupiter in my fictitious history of the future has been broken technical in two pieces complete with two separate different orbits that each of these amorphous globes of gasses material many moons orbit on either side of the divide.
The particular moon that most Coonigators can be found in known as Orion which is my future moon known to use today as Io. The general terrain and habitats of Orion are a forest-like environment. This forest covers close to 75% of Orion’s surface. The forest of Orion are densely canopied,in addition to the canopy thanks to Orion’s surface gravity being lower than Tera Prime(future Earth) and it thicker atmospheric density being higher leads to the forests of Orion being giant in stature. Significantly More than half of the global forest of Orion averages as tall as 320ft/80m at the tops of the canopies.
Among the biodiversity of the dark woods of Orion invertebrates are in high numbers. In-fact a lot of the Invertebrate species make up many of the niches of larger life form.
As far what Coonigator’s diet it primarily made up by numerous in weight of Xenosectoids the majority which are no bigger than an average apple in size. The Coonigator’s jaws are robustly muscular and Coonigators also are equipped with specialized teeth and allow them to crunch through the hard exoskeletons of their prey on top of their insectivorous prey they also quite often partake in eating of carrion.

this drawing I did of a Coonigator I am supremely happy with, combination of the shading work and the fine line work particularly around places like the ears. My Spore Coonigator I’m not that satisfied with,my main problem with my Spore creation being the fact that the stripes on the Spore version covers the majority of my Coonigators hide, If I could have it my way there would be the stripes would only present on the tail. In fact I am not happy with how my Spore version turned out compared to my drawing of a Coonigators.
A interesting aspect of the development of this post is that this post or at least “#CryptidABCs0064” started out as a different cryptid initially,the cryptid that was originally chosen has been forgotten to time which is partially the reason for the switch . You see, in the time since making the list for keeping track of what order to post cryptids in,anyways since created to list and about two month ago or at least that when I discovered the drawing in question had been lost, I just cant find the drawing. So basically I last minute found a suitable replacement, which is how we got this post in front of us.
The next post coming as early as 1/12/2024,this post will be special because it will be the last cryptid in the Cs section of the wiki I have at least of the original batch before I went back to the beginning of the list during late spring 2023.
