Champ is a lake monster reported from and named after a freshwater lake longer then 180km in length, the lake’s name is “Lake Champlain”. Lake Champlain is located across the U.S.A - Canada borders.
Lake Champlain borders includes mostly New York and Vermont with a lesser stretch of shore going into the Canadian province of Quebec.
While known by locals the legend of Champ has gained nation wide if not world wide acclaim when amateur photographer in 1977 captured a still of what resembles a plesiosaur-like shape complete with a long neck-like shape with what looks like head at the end
The Champ legend has had more recent activity, as recently as 2005 when a fishermen named Dick Affolter filmed some moments with his stepson when in the footage one might see what appears to be a creatures head and tail including what even looks like the same creature seen with a mouth a gasp and then closed in the footage.
While not a sighting per-say but the most recent evidence is the fact around the time that video footage from the fishermen. There was a monitoring of the audio in the lake in 2003 by the Fauna Communications Research Institute they were working under part of a Discovery Channel program. This research resulted recordings of what was identified as echolocation heard by monitoring devices that were under the waves of Lake Champlain.
Other than history of the Champ legend and evidence of their existence the other thing worth mentioning is fact that like Loch Ness the Lake Champlain has also drawn numerous tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of what so many others claimed to have see. On top of the draw to possibly see a sighting of something unexplained there is a local celebration called “Champ Day” held every August in the village of Port Henry where in the village a giant statue of Champ has been erected.

My version of Champs is of dolphin sized freshwater marine reptile, despite most people I'm sure when they think of prehistoric animals like plesiosaurs or moasasaurs when they hear marine reptile , but despite that I’ve decided that my Champs are marine reptile not descended from prehistoric reptile instead they are decedents of iguana.
My confirmed head cannon for the general body layout of Champ is similar to the like of it who evolved before ,such as they are equipped with a tail similar in shape and orientation to a shark or coincidentally the same general appearance as the tail of a Ichthyosaur.
Continuing from the tail end of Champs description,Champs tail bends shallowly down then curves somewhat sharply back up right before the pelvis of the animal ,which Champs lacks any rear limbs/flipper just a vestigial pelvis.
Champs bodies level out an are rather barrel shaped around the chest and around the general rib-cage area. The robust chest region is thanks to Champs robust lungs that makes it so that Champs don’t have to surface to breathe but ounce in a great while,(As long as a sperm whale). There attached to the torso which is two thirds up from the tail portion of the creatures are two large pointed to the tip paddle like flippers.
Last area of a Champ’s body to cover with a description is the head and neck which makes up about a third of the total body length. The neck is not as proportionally thin as the neck of plesiosaurs nor are they nearly as long as a plesiosaur. The heads of my version of Champs robust and broad with a defined brow line complete with forward facing eyes. The heads of Champs are so proportionally heavy they can not raise their heads very far out of the surface of the water . So they cant recreate the famous photograph.
Champs are capable of echolocation similar to cetaceans. Male Champs use a complex series of sonar pulses that is judged by the females who are larger than the males by about 50%. When a females respond to a sonar song with a parody of the sequence of pulses. Males only make sonar calls during a breeding period. After copulation Champ mother give birth to a singular live young.
Champs are kind of spotted or patterned in a way , with color sets being more commonly a terracotta orange colored base with either rich orange-ish red or fall leaf yellow spots, there is however a rarer pattern of coloration that Champs can posses which is a yellow-ish cream base with dark dull yellow spots.
What does my version of Champs eat, well they most of the time hunt any aquatic vertebrates no longer than about one fifth the length of the hunting Champs. My Champs are similar to dolphins in that they can form pods in the case of Champs pods numbering no more than three males in a pod and the bigger females are always solitary. Hunting pods of male Champs will sometimes very rarely hunt and kill sturgeons
In my lore Champs are native to the Bye-Ceqh Water Way(future Mississippi) that heads through the eastern half of Narith (future North America)

I'm sorry but I do not remember much of the thought process I had during the process of creating my drawing of a Champ but I do remember the background includes a lighthouse but except for the Great Lakes of North America there is no lighthouses in inland water ways, that is to my best knowledge. There might be lighthouses in some bigger lakes like the Great Salt Lake, so the lighthouse in my drawing is inaccurate.
My spore version of Champ at least to me looks too stubby compared to my drawing but that's just because of a limitation with Spore. Other then the stubby nature of the Spore creation and little bit with the Champs head I cant complain too much.
Recently I have started to actually draw some art in part of a new subject of a source of inspiration. That being a series of creature sketches based on Ben Ten starting in particular with the original series. At time of writing I have both Heat Blast and Wild Mutt already done. If your wondering it will be quite a while before I’ll be posting them but felt like sharing.
Then next post come’nup is a ancient Greek mythological being
