Description
Still going with these apparently. Once again using blank space marine templates to make this. The Shadows of Night Chapter are a small chapter shrouded in mystery. They are descendants of the Raven Guard although the exact time of their founding is unknown. They hail from the planet of Fungorum, a strange planet with a bizarre solar cycle with the other planets in system and its multiple moons that results in the nights on the planet lasting for 30 hours while days only last 2. As a result the planets has none of the normal plant life found on other worlds, instead having vast forests of giant mushrooms, many of which are bio-luminescent. With the planet being covered in darkness most of the time, many of the animals on the planet have adapted to either use echo-location or thermal vision.
Being decedents of the Raven Guard, the Shadows of Night share most of the gene-see mutations of their progenitor chapter. Their skin terns white over time and their hair and eyes turn completely black. They also bare a mutated version of the Lure of the Shadows called the Embrace of Night. In addition to the usual symptoms of the Lure of the Shadows, they also develop a pathological fear of the light. This fear is so great that they actually feel pain when their bare skin is exposed to light, like the ancient vampire legends of Terra. This is why battle brothers of the chapter will never remove their armor in the presence of bright light. The chapter has one other mutation, an extreme sense of hearing and spacial awareness. This is further enhanced by the training new recruits go through before becoming Astartes.
The initiation ritual for new recruits to the chapter involve the trainees being dropped off at a random location and left to fend for themselves out in the wilderness with no survival gear and no artificial light sources. They must then survive a full night and return back to the fortress-monastery. The numerous predators on the planet make this task extremely hazardous and the lack of light forces the recruit to hone their senses other than sight, primarily hearing, in order to survive.
The chapter specializes in night combat and infiltration tactics. They are often used in assassination operations although they still can function in open warfare should the need arise.

They do stick to the Raven Guard ideal, just with a bit more training in giant mushroom forests.

Kind of like the Wookiees planet Kashyyyk in the Star Wars universe?

nah, kashyyk has normal treas they're just really really tall. More like zangarmarsh from world of warcraft except the mushroom forests are a lot denser and it's almost always night.
