Description If this looks fimilar, it should. I always liked the scene in the opening of WHR where Robin is playfully trying to balance herself on the side of the street as she walks along it. I've always thought that this displayed her innocence despite her given profession. Its one of those short-lived situations where you get to see her relaxed and unbothered by who and what she is, and what she's called to do.

She has her suitcase in the opening, which implies that she's waiting for an STN-J escort to pick her up and drop her off at STN-J headquarters. The scene implies that she's recently arrived in Japan (from Italy), which is how the first episode starts, with her arriving at STN-J

I used a screen capture as a reference for this.

Full-views are always appriciated

It's a good show, but like Evangelion, you have to be patient with it for it to pay off. It has a slow start, just like Eva, but really gets going later on.

Well, they ran out of episodes on 'On Demand' so I couldn't see anymore. And I hadn't heard of the internet back then.

Nowadays you can buy the dvd series boxset for cheap, depending on where you buy it. I've seen them as low as $30.00, or even lower on e-bay.

As much as I enjoyed WHR, I didn't actually buy it. It's reasonably priced, so maybe I will.

Oh, and thanks for the watch.

I can talk and talk about the things that I like. It's just these younger people, they're not developed enough or interested enough to be having meaningful conversations of thought. There are some exceptions, but if you're looking for a wholesome conversation, you pretty much have to go with someone in your own age group or higher. You're 33 and I'm 26, so we should have more in common together than with the teenagers.

More experience maybe but not always more in common. I've a high number of teens on msn from various games that I've played. Some are your typical teenagers and others are a little more mature than their age shows. Mind you, with many of them, I'm often the adult they can talk to when they feel mom and dad don't want to hear.

As for meaningful conversation..hmm..well I try. Words are not my forte though I can pull of a conversation here and there

Yeah, I know how that is. I used to have people coming to me for advice all the time. What complicates it is when they ask for moral advice, and this usually comes from them knowing I'm religious which is probably why some of them would come to me in the first place, so sometimes I wondered whether they assumed what I would say or hoped I would say what they expected to hear.

When you're put into a position of responsibility like that, you have to tread very carefully or not at all.

I'm finding more and more that the youth of today have alot on their minds, but very few if any people to actually hear them. Sometimes, that's all they really need- an ear to hear. Someone to temporarily enter into their problems and help them.

PixlPhantasy In reply to Thesis-D [2009-05-26 05:23:04 +0000 UTC]

I'm not religious so any moral questions I get are usually returned with more questions. Though thats how most of them go regardless. Kinda ask things from two points of view and often they end up finding the answer themselves or have a better understanding of what they were asking to begin with. Seems to work for most part. I have had nice heated debates with a few as well. Though I've had adults in same situations as well.

Some adults act more like kids than the kids do...drives me nuts.

I agree with more teens wanting an ear. Society has changed and more often than not kids are made to grow too fast. Both parents work or have to work in order to keep a simple living and the kids are taking the brunt of it. so anyone willing to actually listen to them often comes as a great relief.

Thesis-D In reply to PixlPhantasy [2009-05-26 05:30:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's interesting how many people ask questions to problems they already have the solution or answer to. This goes a long way in demonstrating how they really just need you to hear them, so they can do some more introspection and come to the answer that is probably already there.

I think more and more parents are failing at doing a good job parenting, so the kids look for that parent in someone else, and unfortunately, many of them turn to the streets or the people who will take that trust and manipulate it. It's a vicious cycle, because if they don't solve these problem, they're doomed to repeat them with their kids. Some kids are exceptionally bright though and are able to not repeat it, regardless of their background or situation, and I believe they were given that grace seeing has how it wouldn't have come from the people they rely on.

I totally agree there. There is 18 years between me and my younger brothers. My sister is 3 years younger than me. we both notice a difference with my brothers. I think its partially my parents age at this point but our brothers are just the male versions of my sis and I but there's less discipline.

Technology makes a difference as well. Kids are open to a much wider world than I was. My eye to another world was a pen pal in Australia. It would take weeks to get a letter. Now you can hop on talk to someone in an instant half a world away.

It's great that it opens them up to the diversity of the world but it also takes them away from the family. Limitations need to be set and parents need to take an interest or learn about what their kids are doing on the computer.

My parents refused to buy a computer when I was with them. Even in college when I needed one really for the program I was ensuing. Now they have 3..go figure and my dad doesn't touch them.

I'll fully admit I love the computer. I'm married but no kids. For a time I was on the net too much but I've cut down considerably. Time with hubby is just as important.

Thanks for the fave and comment. I don't see it as unusual. We wouldn't really know what unusual is to Robin, since we only see her life in the context of being a Witch Hunter, which requires her to be serious, stoic, etc. There have always been hints of her desire to be funny, have fun, or be amusing. I think theres at least a few instances in the show where she's light hearted and expressive.
