Description
Buitreraptor gonzalezorum is a specialized dromaeosaurid from Late Cretaceous of Argentina.

Its generic name comes from La Buitrera (literally "the vulture place"), where its fossils were found.

With an estimated weight of about 3 kg, Buitreraptor was the size of a large chicken; this theropod is classified in the subfamily Unenlagiinae, whose most striking features are the relatively long and flexible neck and the narrow, elongated skull.

Buitreraptor probably preyed upon small aquatic animal such as fish, primitive frogs and invertebrates; its lifestyle was probably somewhat similar to that of modern day wading birds.
