Description I figured I'd upload this seeming as I'm kinda busy as of late and don't have much to upload. The Aeox got a minor update from last upload; hoping it looks good :3

Their colours are based on the stages of the tide caused by their Homeworld's Moon. Since the Moon takes a plantery year to go around the planet their tides help to change their enviroment quite a lot. Babies born during this time start off white but their skin pigment changes within a few hours to suit the current time of year. This is permanent and is nature's attempt at giving them a headstart for a few months after which they don't really need it.

Β During 'winter' all of the natural corals have died back and the water is dark so a more blueish colour helps hide them from the monsters of the deep.
As the water gets shallower, the 'spring' light starts to filter down leaving the water full of light and the natural corals start to grow.
By 'summer' the corals are in full bloom and the water is full of pinks and red plants. And lastly during 'autumn' the corals start to die off giving them a strange golden colour.

Both Solar and Luna Eclipses last for weeks on their Homeworld; Aeox born during this time have a rare pigment change. During a Luna Eclipse due to the excess amount of light in the sky (reflected by the moon) the Corals turn black in an effort to control their intake and to make the most of the red light. During a Solar Eclipse there is no light at all, causing the plants to wither and die, making them a sliver colour.

Of course colour ranges in between the season do occur, its just simplier to show the main ones :3

Let me know what you all think!

I love this! I always love seeing your worldbuilding concepts, they're so unique. I love the concept of their species getting coloring as a survival mechanism. -fangirl wiggle-

Ah thanks very much! That lovely to hear C: Most of the reason I'm not uploading any at the moment is because everything/one is undergoing a MASSIVE overhaul and with me axing, chopping and slicing races I feel like stuff would get annoying if I upload 1000X pictures of me just tweaking things!

Well, for those who are interested, you might update with a "dump" format? I know a lot of artists do that when they don't want to spam updates all day. I know I for one would still like to see your progress! :>Β

what a wonderful rainbow people! I really like the concept. I honestly never thought of having a species affected by the tides and I'm not sure I've ever seen that before so kudos on being super creative.
