Well, yeah, that's my point exactly. Even when you open nowadays some western/American made "History of Medieval Europe" there is one sentence about my country or nothing at all, and it is very insulting, because well, we were there all the time, we had a really big European country and we fought all the time with Asian invaders as you say and neighbours, who were also fearsome warriors like Byzantines, Serbs, Magyars, Russians.
People nowadays know of English, French, German warriors but Easter European warriors were also good, if not many times better, more hardened warriors due to the tasks they had to face.

It is very disappointing.
I have the same problem as an English history buff. I walk into my local bookstore and library and almost all the books are about Henry VIII's marital problems, Queen Victoria and WW2. Medieval history, on the whole, is greatly unappreciated and mischaracterized as a period of darkness.
They all deserve a better memorial.

Yeah, that's the absolute truth. Many people think of it as a "boring period", but at least TV series like Game of Thrones come to show the wide public that they were wrong.
They just don't teach it very well in schools, cause few historians understand the period and that's why people get the wrong idea.

Как не съм намерил това по-рано. Тъкмо с един познат се опитвахме да реконструираме брони на наши войни от 14 в. при положения, че Турците не бяха ни поробили.
