Description Requested by a friend of mine on Facebook. He also wants a Hugo Strange piece. That might happen later.

I like the idea from "Batman Begins" that Ra's was the one that taught Bruce how to fight & use "theatricality" against criminals, so I put details on the costume that bear a similarity to Batman's to show their lineage.

Very interesting style! I love all the shapes within shapes. There's incredible movement in this piece. Was there a specific genre or era of art you were drawing from?

Would you mind if I played around with coloring this if I need a break from writing reports this week? I can't imagine traditional coloring on this - it wouldn't fit the style - but *what* coloring style to use that would emphasise your stylistic shapes rather than detract from them is a really intriguing question!

Thanks for the kind words. I'd like to see how my work would look colored so feel free to give it a try.

Generally, my style is influenced by comic art from the 50's, 60's, & 70's. Many artists from that time had developed wonderful black & white line techniques since the technology for coloring comics was nowhere near as sophisticated as it is now. If you're interested, take a look at the work of Wally Wood, Gene Colan & John Buscema for a few great examples.

I have an idea I'm going to try! One question, though: what is that thing in the upper right hand corner coming around the corner of the wall? (Assuming that is a wall? The texture/internal shape is a little odd.)

That's just some demon/ gargoyle statuary sculpted into the parapet of his mansion/ castle. Sorry for any confusion. I admit that part of the drawing wasn't as well thought out as the foreground figure.
