uggggh I had to do figure drawing last semester. I never knew 2 things. first) my eyes and hand could move that fast and 2) my hand could hurt that badly from grasping charcole.

Working from a line of action and gesture lines- aspects of drawing that most of us will have seen a good number of times already. Although this is a great tutorial for beginner artists, I don't believe you should be getting all the praise for these methods of drawing that have been around for decades.
However, I must condone the easy-to-read presentation.

I believe the latter is why it has the praise. It's like saying "I don't see why Disney's Tangled gets so much praise. It's a story we've heard time and time again."

Wow Fyu, this is perfect! Exactly what I'm doing now in my life drawing class. They're a little tricky to get ahold of at first (especially 1 minute poses) but starting with the lline of motion and working out the bulk is the best way to get it done, very true tut

I'm curious.., how do you know you drew the line of action right before you draw the figure? I can't seem to understand the line of action

When drawing from life drawing, you analyze with your eyes, the main direction and motion of the pose. When you're drawing from your head, invision it in your head first.

THANK you. I feel like so many people on DA don't even know what gesture drawing is, let alone how to use it, or how important it is to add life to a pose. *faves to give this more exposure*
