Description Puppies?

Nope,

Fluppies!

Ah, yes! Disney's Fluppy Dogs. The story of a band of adventurous, cuddly, dog-like creatures who utilized a magical crystal key to open inter-dimensional doorways. They became lost between worlds while trying to find their way home and end up on Earth. Mistaken for actual dogs they are captured and placed in the pound. Jamie, a human, picks out Stanley as a new pet and the adventure begins!

Unfortunately, these particular Fluppies don't make an appearance in the animated special because-

:Mr. Antlion: "-BECAUSE THEIR FREAKS."

No, silly! These are my original creations. My very own Fluppy Puppies, as it were!

:Mr. Antlion: "FILTHY MONGRELS."

Ho, hum...names, names, a dog's gotta' have a name! I mean, when an INteresting Fluppy can't have an INteresting moniker, whatever is the world coming to? My stars! How about 'Ruff' for goldy down there, and 'Runt' for big blue fella'?

MLP FIM pales when compared to this piece of my childhood; hopefully my precious Fluppies will be kept safely away from both the Bronies and trolling communities.

Glad I'm not the only one who remebers this special. Too bad it never became a series but I wish that it could at least be on DVD.

I love obscure things. There should be a day for characters that most nobody remembers.

It aired as a TV special sometime in the very late 80s or very early 90s. It aired so long ago in fact, that the last time I saw it was like 20 years ago.

I saw the special sometime before I started regularly watching FRONTLINE and NOVA (yes, I started watching both at the age of ten) so it must have been sometime in 1989 or 1990.

I didnt my research on it, so dont worry, I know about it. I think it was outdone by Hanna-Barberras Pound Puppies series

You know, I was thinking; I suspect that Fluppy Dogs became the Gummie Bears Saturday morning cartoon. I think Disney aired Fluppy Dogs as a pilot for a new cartoon series that was later rewritten as the Gummie Bears. Fluppy Dogs and Gummie Bears seem to be based off the same idea.

Fluppy dogs! :whoa: I loved that movie. All I remember is snow and furry dogs on tobogans and sparkely portals and other scattered memories.

Blue Star and Aurum? I like the colour. Gold like unrefined ore, without being mustard or canary yellow. Almost brown, but not entirely there.

All I remember is a blue dog, a boy and his mom, a grumpy rich man, and some interdimmensional portals that the Fluppies had to race to before they closed up. I also remember a clumsy creature that came through one of the portals adding to the hysteria.

Well yeah, if you want to focus on "stuff that happened too." Fluppy Dogs had potential, and it was long before Sliders was created and then mangled by Executive Meddling.

I was thinking overnight of the possibility that Fluppy Dogs evolved into what later became the Gummi Bears cartoon show...in other words, Gummi Bears killed Fluppy Dogs
As for the interdimensonal portals, it was being used in another cartoon show at the time...the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used portals in their story plots as a link between Earth and Dimension X.
