I never appreciated the newfangled downgraded style in which the second and third Balto movies were created. So, when my muse initially urged me to whip up a bit of RalphXDusty fan service, I had already made up my mind to do so in such a way that it would at the very least faintly mimic the original style as closely as I could possibly manage it. I even went as far as to portray Ralph in a brand spanking new pelt which echoes the character designs of all the stout, stubby, nameless Nikki-look-alikes ambling aimlessly about in the backgrounds of the original animated feature. I'd say he wears it quite handsomely indeed! Although one can't get away with anything too elaborate where Balto character designs are concerned, body markings are a splendid way to make any canine in Nome stand out from the crowd and, although Ralph's superior huskiness (pun intended) already helped him to achieve easy recognition from the viewer when standing alongside any surrounding dogs whenever onscreen, I've always been dying to put some socks on those paws, dark tips on those ears, and a large dark grey spot in the middle of his back (If not for any other reason than the fact that any future offspring between these two might come out looking awfully drab with only two solid grey pelts and Dusty's back leg and foreleg markings doing all of the genetically oriented hard work in the creativity department!).
