I can see why you named this tree a - tulip tree.
The large petals of the magnolia are always stunning in spring.

Oh really? I went there last summer.
I have some pictures up,
but I never got to go to the "photogenic" places.
My grandmother, who lives there, told me they had really good cherry blossoms,
but we never went around where they were and that was half the reason I wanted to go, haha.

Inside the Franklin Roosevelt Memorial here in Washington DC [West side of the Tidal Basin], there were quite a few of these beauties. But you can find them many places (took some pictures of them while I was in North Carolina last week as well).

The tree itself stood probably 20 feet tall, very beautiful and from what I understand, captured at just the right time in it's life cycle. I'm glad you liked it.
