Blacksad main characters, from the second book "Arctic-Nation". It's always for my game project.From left to right : Weekly, John Blacksad, Hans Karup and Huk. Characters of Diaz Canales and Guarnido.

It was a rumor. His wife used it as a cover and to frame him, ultimately leading to his execution.Β

he got corrupted by his desire for success and destroyed his family, truly tragic.

That story broke my damn heart. All that betrayal and death. Family on family vengeance, especially with ethnic supremacy involved, never ends well.

best part for me was when Blacksad got the daughter out of her self-righteousness vengeance at Karup's funeral simply asking "does that kid deserves this?" like, had he remained quiet then Karup's daughter would had completely forgot about her niece and just comitted suicide right then and there now her vengeance was done, that little exchange illustrated beautifully how revenge can blind a person, make them lose perspective of what's important, and how bystanders ALWAYS get caught on it, people's connections ain't like A to B, everybody connects with allot more people so what you do inevitable will have consequences on more than just your life D:

I really like this comic strip, and have based my own story on the style of anthro-characters. This pic helped a lot with my initial character sketches. Thanks.

I still don't understand why the fox had tail and the rest are not

Juanjo Guarnido (the illustator) said in an interview that he put the tail on the fox for several reasons:
" 1) it is used to identify immediately because we often do not notice his face (when heβs hooded or when heβs in the car at the end, for example)
2) After he killed Dinah, Blacksad discovers traces in the snow cleared. However, in nature, foxes actually scan their own tracks with their tail
3) In the sex scene it is not only instantly recognizable, but also it gives the scene its bestial side. But it reduces the shocking / pornographic effect too, because itβs like seeing two dogs copulating. I'm quite shy, and I would have been uncomfortable drawing this scene if it showed two people."

I wonder what would happen if a human (whether if the human was black, white, whatever met some of the Members of the Arctic nation. Judging from the book,if an African American human met the arctic nation, the human would be treated badly just like Cotten ,Blacksad,and others who do not have white fur, feathers, etc or the he/she would'nt be bothered by the Arctic nation becasue he or she a human. But that's my guess. I don't know....

Um... Dunno, actually. Polar bears like Karup don't really have more than a stub by way of tails, but the other two do.
Maybe it's a way of showing the lack of compassion and humanity that the fox portrays. Dunno if you've read the book, but Huk is very sly, very devious, very cunning. He cares about no one but hiself, and is very self-sufficient and willing to do whatever it takes to survive in all luxury. So, maybe adding a tail links him closer to animal than human, and shows what kind of character he really.

I like to think that in that world the parents decide to cut off the tail or not to their children.
It may also be that the vast majority of characters hide their tails in their pants, but there are cases in which the tail can not be hidden, as in crocodiles.Β But the crocodiles we see have no tail.

It's from a comicbook called "Blacksad", by Guarnido. I really suggest you to read them, it's a "Film Noir" style stories, but with anthro characters. Awesome drawings and story
