Description
Weekly, from the comicbook Blacksad. It's still for my game project. It has less polygons than Blacksad because it will be a NPC. Done in 6, 7 hours today.EDIT : I add the small noise effect on the texture, and correct the hat a little bit.
The other character, John Blacksad :
You can check a turn-around video of this model in my demoreel : [link]

I like this.
Normally I would queston how flat the texture is, but after last time, you explained that most of those littlethings are because you're trying to keep the texture, similar to the Comic book style.
For a NPC, this looks pretty good for the amount of poly's you've got. I really like your ability to work in low poly, and still have a fair amount of detail.
Although, there are a few things that I would still pick at, such as the very flat pocket lines, and the shadow under the chin. Mostly it's that shadow, is that a part of a render light, or do you intend to keep it there, because it really seperates the texture, when I looked at it, it's so dark that it took a fair amount of my attention. As for the pockets, maybe deeped them a little bit, give soem depth, so that they don't look so flat?
Great job on this one, though. I look forward to seeing the next character e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Thanks for your opinion, it's really helpful.
As for the shadow, it's just a rendering problem on 3ds max, and there will be no such a dark area in real time rendering. Well, I hope, I haven't tested yet. But normally there is no reason for it.
For the pockets, you mean I have to work the texture, or the model? I can always add more details on the texture, to make them look less flat.

Yes, moreepth on the texture, so that it doesn't look as if it's a lighter coloured line where the pocket shoudl be
I'm sure, someone as talented in texturing as you, knows what I mean by adding more depth?

oTL I made a model in about the same amount of time, but it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as that. Do you have any tips for texturing and rendering? I think I did a pretty good job UV mapping mine, though it doesn't overlap sides like yours does

The hardest part is how to make the "fur" aspect without taking too many polys ^^

The critique has a good point, your low-poly is really good, also the textures are good. the only thing it looks a little bit flat, especially the shoes, and the red jersey where it reaches the jacket there is no shading there where I think should be some colusion happening

Thanks for your opinion. I will think to improve that for the next modeling

The hat dont combine with the model, maybe if you reduce the height of hat improve the result
